Damn it, ordered!

Haven't built a model since I was a lad but been looking at the old Vulcan for sometime.

Cheers for the heads up.

Depending on how much work you want to carry out on this venerable kit (released originally in 1983), you might want to read this.

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topi...

As it comes in the box, you can't really build an accurate model of XH588.

I haven't built a model in a very long time so I think I'll just build it as it comes.

Although looking at some of those links I think I'm going to need a little more paint than what they provide.

The paints they provide are not worth using. Bin it and buy some "proper" paints.

I have the Revell Victor and Airfix Valiant in the pile. I really want a Vulcan, but too many horror stories of the Airfix kit.
Doesn't stop me looking and thinking, won't hurt, another on the bench, all those £££££xtras, no problem.......

Arrived today, that's pretty quick service considering it was free postage. No idea when I'll get round to it though.

It's worth studying pictures of the real thing to work out what bits you need to get rid of or don't need to fit.

The instructions are a cut down version of the ones from the kit which built 3 different variants.

From memory and ignoring the incorrect jetpipe end caps...

Terrain Following Radar blister needs removing from the nose.

The Electronic Counter Measures bay cooling intake and the Counterpoise Panel between the port engines don't need fitting.

This is pretty much how far mine has got although the wings and fin are attached now.

I was really hoping that XH558 would spend her last year in "Anti Flash White"

Received my 2 days later decided I'm going to build it in Anti-flash white to match the Valiant that I'm just finishing before the Victor is released in October

http://www.airfix.com/uk-en/shop/pre-orders/handle...

After reading reviews I have ordered the Woldpack resin intakes

Along with some bits from Hannants

https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ADTS7228

When I get round to building it it will be the 1st time I've ever done more than build straight out the box, 1st time using etched and resin parts.
