Wifey bought me a Monster Beetle RC bundle (Carson Reflex Stick Pro 3) from this place for Christmas, and I've got an issue with the Steering Servo that was supplied - doesn't seem to respond to steering input, makes a noise but no movement. I've been calling them for days and letting it ring for a few minutes and never got an answer, and I've emailed their tech help address but had no response. My only other experience of them was ordering a model car for a relative for their Birthday in November via Tesco - it never arrived and I'm still waiting for the refund.

Has anyone got any experience of them, should I carry on chasing them of give up?

Alternatively, has anyone got any suggestions for setting up the steering servo that I might have missed? The speed controller works fine.

Thanks
Andy

I'm pretty sure russy01 on here has something to do with them?

Don't quote me on that though.

Russ who runs it is on here, I've used them for years with no issue. I'll point this thread out to him for you

Sorry to hear about this, drop me a pm through here with your order details and Ill look into this further for you. I have been out for a few days so cannot comment on the Customer service side of things - apart from it sounds unacceptable and I will investigate for you (and for me!)

As far as your Servo goes, try the Dual rate knob at the top of the controller. It sounds like your Servo is reacting to the input, however it might be that the Dual rates knob is right down low, so therefore the movement from that input is minute.

As for the TESCO issue, again pop me some details and Ill take a look. The TESCO back end is diabolical the usual suspect is that we have sent you several emails and refunded your order through their console - but their backend hasn't actually done it.

Thanks.

Wow, thanks for the help and quick response. I've checked the dial on the transmitter and it doesn't make any difference.

I will PM you the details.

Thanks

Russ - so what's the story with the Dr Who sets that never materialised for 'regulars'.

Poor show chap.

3 months of 12hr days, 7 days a week, >5000 orders per day, >20 staff to manage, and a 3 month old baby at home!

I dont always have the time to sort it out! If I do, then you get yourself a deal, if I dont then I am very sorry I let you down!

Russy you're a bad, bad man. The 20% off new year offer saw me buy a Torpedo boat from you that won't get built for quite some time! I'm quite happy if you fail to tempt me to buy more stuff.

You're not the only one who does those hours (and more) and has a wife and kids to look after Russ.

Appreciate the run up to Christmas is mega busy for you, but if you can't deliver, then don't offer. Simple.

Bear in mind that PH has been very lenient in terms of forum advertising for Jadlam (as that's effectively what it is) due to the deals you've offered to PHers in the past. No doubt it's driven a fair bit of business (albeit at lower margin) for Jadlam as a result, so don't complain too much eh wink

Did you start the company or buy it out?

russy - I'm pretty sure 99.9% on here appreciate the effort and work you put into the deals for us all. And for those in doubt read up and see a happy customer.

Trust me - until recently I was also a very happy customer and have been part of pretty much every deal since they've been offered by Russ (always going for the 'full set' option too) and other orders outside of them too.

I'd rather support and indie (especially one run by a PHer) than a big chain, though it's fair to say the latter have almost always ended up cheaper than even the 'deal' prices.

I'm probably making more out of it than is justified, but loyalty is something that should work both ways.

PH provides customers - Jadlam provides a good service thus relationship is reciprocal.

Apologies for hijacking the thread with a personal moan. On the whole I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jadlam.

PH has also been very direct in dealing with their "no name and shame" policy too, but that doesn't appear to have been the case here. wink

To be honest chap, I think you are being a touch OTT about it.

It was ME who approached Russy a few years back to see if he could do us a deal on some sets and he obliged. Everyone got their sets and it snowballed a bit from there. So let's consider a few things:

1) Lego are difficult to deal with. I have a friend who deals with them for a multi national, and they rarely know what is turning up and when. Speaking with Russ, it's even worse for him being a small indie.

2) He's not going to retire on the volumes we put through. In sorting out a few of the deals he has given us his entire margin. He does this as a favour to the PH community. Oh, and from my perspective you wouldn't believe the bizarre and obtuse requests we get when trying to sort stuff out for people.

3) If he can sort something out, he'll always do his best - and I think it's fair to say we've evidenced that in the past. Sometimes st happens, and it seems that it has here in a few cases.

4) If I'd read the above I can't work out if I'd be upset, pissed off, or not bother any more. Perhaps all three.

Apologies to Russy if I've spoken out of school.

Can you point out where I've named and shamed in a thread which calls for people to share their experience? tongue out

As I said Podie - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jadlam, but as a 'regular' customer, just felt a bit let down in this instance, though I can appreciate the reasons why.

As for being OTT - other than asking for a response from Russ on the non-Technic Lego thread (which I never received) I've not said a word. But as this thread came up, well, I knew Russ would have a look at it so commented accordingly.

I hope Russ is thick skinned enough to take it as constructive, and not to stop him from making further offers to the PH community.

That's enough bellyaching from me.

Pretty sure Russy doesn't sit at a screen all day monitoring PH in the hope that someone wants to buy a Lego set! wink

From your initial postings I wasn't really sure what you were looking to achieve... clearly something has gone a bit awry in the Christmas madness. Not sure if the OP has been back in contact with Russ about his issue (which sounds like a DOA product).

He is thick skinned, but he'll be mortified that a customer isn't happy. He's a decent, hard working bloke who does all of us a favour when he doesn't have to. Just don't upset him enough that he decides it's not worth the grief of offering deals. smile

I'm sure he doesn't - for what little life he does have (with a 3 month old)! But you have to agree that it does generate custom for him so it's not wholly altruistic.

As I said, don't let my moan put people off but having received no response on the other thread, I thought I'd try here.

Just to give it some perspective, Russ originally posted about the Dr Who sets back in October, saying he had limited numbers coming and therefore a deal was unlikely. No problemo - I wanted the set and would rather put the business his way. Others, I believe, also showed interest.

From the thread, the sets arrived in Nov but Russ couldn't retail until Dec. No problem their either. But December came and went and I expect Russ ot bogged down with zillions of Christmas orders. Again, I have no issue with that. I posted a few times to see what was happening with no response?

Ultimately, I gave up. This was disappointing because, as I said, he has always been my first 'go to' source for sets.

It's no big deal and definitely a first world problem wink As I've said (3 times now - so don't push your luck) - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and I sincerely hope Russ doesn't stop his offers for the broader PH community as a result of this one minor hiccup.

I don't blame him if he blacklists me as a result though hehe

I see your point, but I suspect the traffic generate is under 1000 units. My point is, it's more grief than it's actually worth.

Either way, I think we've both said our pieces. smile

I do wonder if the OP ever got back to him...
