A flyer which fell out of a classic car magazine caught my eye, it was to get a reproduction Dinky Supertoy Leyland Octopus tanker for the amazingly cheap price of £2.99 including postage.
As a youngster I collected and restored 1950's Dinky cars and vehicles and still have a soft spot for them.

Call me a cynic but this looks too good to be true. The offer is from a company called Atlas Editions, is this an amazingly good offer (which on the face of it it seems to be) or am I missing an obvious scam here?

I would normally bin the lose flyers from a magazine but this offer looks good.

I have done some googling and there seems to be a catch and that you will keep receiving future releases at full price plus postage, and it can be difficult to cancel and return them.

That said, if faithful reproductions of original Dinky commercials they could be worth the £20 each they are likely to cost. I have many of the originals but no original boxed items so these may be an interesting addition.

I haven't collected them for 25 years but they are at my parents house and my kids like to play with them due to their chunkiness and large scale (Dinky Toys that is, not my parents).

Must admit I do like the look of the Touring cars collection lick

Just got to work out how many are in the collection and how much it's going to cost in total type

I have ordered the reproduction Leyland Octopus as I couldn't resist it for the price, and the next planned releases look good.

It may even spark my enthusiasm to restore the ones sat in a box in a wardrobe at my parents house that I never to round to doing as a youngster (my interest diminished when I got a real car to do up at 16).

Amongst that pile of projects I have an original Octopus tanker so it will make an interesting comparison.

Much of the stuff they offer looks to be in the 'Winged horse of chav tat' category. Hence the original question had anyone ever heard of them.

However I was impressed with how faithful a reproduction of the original Dinky it looked, but if it isn't the same scale as the original I will be returning it.

The package has arrived and it is a very good reproduction of an original Dinky Supertoy Leyland Octopus tanker.

I am very please with it for my outlay of £2.99.
