No I did not go.
Nice she survived and a nice touch with the plates.
The other one I remember seeing fair bit of was 47077 North Star, I first saw her at Dover. I have always been tempted to do a rail blue North Star with etched plates.

Those AMOCO oil tankers really could be mistaken for the real thing.

I have got six of them and I have made each one look different. As they used to run like that. I will see if I can post some pictures tomorrow as well.

That one is Bachmann. The ridges on the roof let it down. I have another Bachmann BG which is later version without the ridges on. What is scratch built is the platform, which I was quite pleased with.

However your comment has prompted me to start scratch building wagons again. So a set of 21t scratch built coal hoppers will be surfacing at some point

Small point but when I see weathered diesels I notice that no one does a dirty windscreen with a clear segment where the arc of the widscreen wiper clears it. Yet that's exactly how I remember dirty diesels from when I was young.

Superb. That looks almost real, except for Rich Bs comment, and also something that always struck me about these things (I hate 33s) is that the windscreen had a peculiar purpley tinge, like some aircraft cockpit windows.

Most of the diesels on the western region had that. I always assumed it was an oil slick from them being so filthy!

Weathered GUV

Another Weathered BG

And yes I agree guys, I have been a bit lazy with the windscreens. Some have been too dirty. Some do not have the arc where the wipers go.

It's a indication of how good your work is that the only detail that separates these forn being real is the windscreens!

Slightly OT, hope it's OK just to bob this pic in here as I used to be into model railways as a kid etc and this model was specially commissioned for the FIL 20 years ago after he completed 50 years working for British Rail, made by Dave Lowrey modelmakers, I think it's this firm http://www.modernwagons.co.uk/index.html
Probably an easy guess for you lads to guess what type of train it is, and supposedly in full working order when built but it has never been used.

Is he still working on the railways?

Latest project has been the weathering of class 25201

How she started out naked with some handrails I made for her and a few pics here of the finished article.

I am now about to get stuck into hand building a rake of 21t coal hoppers see here.

I think the weathering opportunities are really good on em. Will probably take me a year and day! we shall see.
