When my gt3 arrived it was just a plain box with what would look to the layman like used Lego in it. Lego would have to pay for some training if they wanted a customs official to recognise it for what it was. Also knock offs of other brands (who all have similar injunctions no doubt)!have been coming in for years. I think you'd be unlucky to get caught and if the item didn't arrive you'd just get a refund as aliexpress holds onto the payment until you say everything's ok.
They're just need to look for the Lego logo on the bobble on any brick?
stuff like mega bloks is legal though, no law against producing blocks that fit lego, surely only the box art or instructions could be copyrighted? the design of the GT3 model, probably only Porsche could ever launch proceedings about that, for the Star Wars stuff, Disney (add it to the list of unofficial stuff they must deal with every day from China)
You're working on the basis that this would be a priority for customs, which it wouldn't be. The idea they would go through every delivery from china in case it contained counterfeit Lego is unlikely. They are more worried about weapons, drugs etc...
The fact that counterfeit goods are widely available from auction sites and have been more or less forever proves this.
I'll worry about it the first time something's isn't delivered because it's been seized by the Lego police. (I.e not particularly worried at all)

Well all I can say is that my GT3RS is properly fast. Apparently it left Hong Kong at 1730 today and should be with me tomorrow evening!

I doubt that TBH, and if so my life is over. Mrs and the little man have been away for a week, back tomorrow...obviously "quality time" is needed with them...but the bags of Lepin will be calling me!!!!
Well...it's arrived! Looks great...there is a hell of a lot to it, and I can tell it's going to be big. The last technic set I built was the 8860 car chassis (basically a VW beetle) when I was probably about 12. That was 30 years ago now, and all I can say is that the build manual is very daunting! It does look ridiculously complicated but looking forward to getting stuck in.

And the missus is staying away one more night, so bring on the inner geek!!!

smilesmile Think this one must be a real Falcon, given the speed it's moving at. It left Hong Kong 17:18 yesterday, bounced off Leipzig and Birmingham, then left the Ipswich DHL depot (actually in Colchester) 45 minutes ago.

The Wall-E kit has also landed in the UK, so should be with me in the next day or two (he's travelling via Royal Mail).

Last time I had to pay import duties on something via DHL, it arrived within a day or two of payment clearing.
Wall-E has arrived.. I foresee a weekend of building smile

Hopefully I'll still be able to order a couple kits in 5 weeks when I get back to the UK!

I really want to order the super expensive Star Wars kits and blow them up or something!
According to the link, the 1st decision will take a year and even then, there's no gurantee it will be enforced.

Do they label the boxes Star Wnrs to avoid legal action?

Yes presumably it is to make it more difficult for Disney to go after them as well as Lego.
They have done the same with the Lepin Ghostbuster firehouse (missing S on the logo).

So from the Brickset story posted above about Lego taking legal action, it looks like it will be at least a year before it sees any court action!

Personally I am hoping for these -
10019 Rebel Blockade Runner
10175 Vader's TIE Advanced
10134 Y-wing Attack Starfighter
10212 Imperial Shuttle
I have most of the newer ones by Lego, and will continue to buy real Lego for future sets.

Not really into modular buildings so the only other retired sets I fancy are -
10181 Eiffel Tower
10231 Shuttle Expedition
Considering Lepin are doing the Taj Mahal and Sydney Opera House then the Eiffel Tower is a real possibility.

Morning (just) all

Ive been reading this thread for a few weeks now as well as a few others elsewhere on the WWW and its nice to be in a room where pretty much everyone is on the same page and is just wanting stuff for the love of the build.

I got back into Lego about a year ago now after buying a load of old vintage (Im a 74 baby) Lego and the sorting process for me was very interesting and it bought back a load of memories. I think that inspired me to pick up a Lego Tumbler which I built and absolutely loved. I then bought a couple other smaller sets, Ecto- 1and Wall-E and then even picked up a pre BrickLinked BatPod for a not small chunk of change...but it was worth it in my opinion to go with my Tumbler.

Next I ventured into my first brick linked build with the Arvo Brothers Alien Xenomorph...I've always been a huge fan of the films (all Sci-Fi to be honest, so as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it and to this day its is in my top three builds and its rarity is something that it will never lose. Not long after that my daughter got some Lego Friends stuff and helping her build that lit the fire again and I really wanted some more bits to build. So I found myself on the hunt for a Red 5 (10240), which was swiftly followed by a UCS Tie Fighter and then recently a Slave 1....all great sets the I am glad I own and that I am glad to have built and displayed in my study.

I am not one for buying and hoarding, in fact I've never understood that with anything (all of my past cars included), and for me it really is the love of the build. It doesn't hurt that its one of my favourite all time films as well (I own an original Stormtrooper outfit for gods sake, Im clearly a little odd) so to get the chance to build some of these sets has been great for me.

In truth, I was NEVER EVER EVER going to pay the silly money that people have been asking for the UCS MF....and even a bricklinked one at 600-700 was a stretch, specially as you weren't getting a box, manual , mini figures or even the correct parts original intended with the set. This was the same for a handful of other sets which all commanded prices north of £350, not because I couldn't afford them, but I just couldn't justify giving money to a hoarder/collector/investor or whatever they deem themselves, for a pile of plastic bricks..no matter how big a smile owning them would bring to my face.

So when I first heard of Lepin, via another thread, it didn't really have too much an effect. I think the first set I heard of was Poe's X Wing, and as it was a smaller set aimed more at younger children (due to it being less complex) so it wasn't something that was going to sit right on my shelf with the three UCS sets I had acquired. More and more sets started coming out and in honesty I was just hoping for a one of the big ones but I didnt think it would ever happen.

But then it did, the holy grail, 10179, the build I honestly thought I'd never get to do myself was being released by Lepin...for around £150 shipped. Holy @*&%, how can I not buy this, so I placed an order on the day they announced it via AliExpress....and its finally been shipped today (well yesterday now), whilst I was waiting I was getting impatient so I ordered the SSD, which came in four days...and when it arrived in a non-descript cardboard box I wasn't even a little bit worried about it not being in the original box (just more boxes to be stored in the loft). To be honest it not being in numbered bags and actually being grouped into bags of similar/identical pieces, I actually found it easier than I did with the previous UCS sets...so I didn't sort anything at all. If this will work with a set with about 1500 fish pieces who knows, but ill give it a go.

I took all of the bags out and laid them across my building table (dining table) and admired the huge pile of bricks I had just purchased....of course I was going to build it straight away...and I did...and I loved it. I had already done a time lapse build of my Slave 1 and a few people seemed to enjoy viewing it, so I had already planned on doing the same when I built my MF (whenever it finally turned up), so thought I may as well do the same for the SSD...

Ive posted a link to the YouTube post below in case anyone has a spare 3 minutes and 8 seconds, I hope its allowed to post links to youtube but happy to take it down if not.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urPzB_cLdOI

The build was great, did I miss the Lego box no...did I miss lego being printed multiple times on each piece...no...did I care about the sometimes obvious mould issues on every piece...no....is the Lepin SSD a site to behold...damn right it is....and am I looking forward to my MF copy even more....oh yes indeed I am...

Then I heard the news today that they are also releasing their 'homages' to the ISD and DS2...two sets I wanted but again wouldn't pay through the nose for...so Im a very happy builder...

Im just hoping they bring out more sets that Lego lovers really want but can't justify a stupidly expensive spend on....R2D2, Y-Wing, Imperial Shuttle....in all honesty a good deal of the UCS star wars sets...I would love them all, I will build them all straight away again...and I will display them, not because they are a certain brand, but because they look awesome..

Is it a legal issue yes, but is it illegal to purchase them and own them...no...and thats my current viewpoint and nothing will change that...so called investors can bh and moan about it all they like (there is a thread over at bricklinkers.com where members continuously pat themselves on the back about eBay and amazon ads they have taken down due to the Evil Lepin Corp...I mean come on, do you not understand that there are more important things in the world to worry about.

If I were them, the one thing I'd really worry about is Lego doing the right thing for their FANS (and Lego financially) and re-rleasing everything..I can honestly say I WOULD buy them again as I'd like the official ones that I couldn't ever justify before...and then the price of older retired sets would crumble...fast...and to be honest for those holding onto a 10179 that they've been trying to sell for £6K, they deserve everything they get in my opinion.

@rscott.....are you a Colchester dweller as well, saw you mention something about Colchester on an earlier post.

@mike....out of interest where exactly are you in Asia...my folks used to live in Malaysia, about an hour from KL and they return quite frequently to visit friends and relatives, and I was just wondering if you happened to know where in Malaysia Lepin may be stocked. They are there again in January so it kind of makes sense to get them to at least check out whats available and I might even be able to get them to pick up a setter two even cheaper than AliExpress will ship them to me.

Sorry for the really long and boring (to some Im sure) post....I'll continue to rad this thread with interest and can't wait to see what else Lepin unleash on us in the coming weeks and months

@jouster74 I'm based in Makati, Philippines. I do know there is Lepin Malaysia groups on face ache so join a couple and they will point your parents in the right direction.

I need to slow down on my buying of Lepin, I've 5 sets not sat in boxes waiting to be built, the trouble is the temptation is strong when the sellers here will come and bring it to me and let me pay COD, plus Lepin isn't helping my cause by releasing all of the big sets...

Had a message from my seller saying that they've received them and are in the process of unpacking them into resealable bags for shipping.

Average seems to be £140-145 including P&P, but that's without the box. With the box, it's quite a lot more.
