Odd, that was the bag with the 4164133 levers in (and they were only in that bag) as well as the lights which you mentioned you were missing.

Actually you could be right... I was short some longer levers as well and that threw me off.

I'm glad I was just unlucky. Now I can buy something else.

Does the giant millennium falcon have loads of moving parts and cool features, or is it just the size that's the attraction?

It will be too big for my lad to lift, let alone play with, and I like models that actually do things . . .

My first Lepin was the Grand Emporium, enjoyable build and looks great.

Problems? The base plate is wrong, it's made of two plates instead of one, a bit thick and should be tan I believe and not green.
One large window missing but one extra small window.
One mis-moulded piece.

Overall very small problems that are easily sorted

Pics...

And the latest two that turned up yesterday smile

I'm really undecided now on the MF. I'm most of the way through the GT3, and I think even unfinished it looks far better in the flesh than it does in the pics, although the friction in the gearbox is a shame. However it's the technical aspect that I love, seeing how the suspension has been engineered for example.

As has been pointed out the MF doesn't actually do anything, and to be honest that photo of an enormous kit of parts looks quite daunting. I have enjoyed putting the GT3 together so far, however searching for the parts has been quite annoying. My utopia would be some kind of conveyor belt feeding me the required parts in turn!

I might hold off until people start to build it and post thier photos and comments...

Still bloody tempting though for a Star Wnrs fan!!!!

I must be one of the few people that bought the UCS falcon and built it. I can honestly say that I enjoyed the gt3 build more than the mf. If it wasn't for the the missing bits it would be my favourite kit. In terms of display though no kit beats the 10179. It looks awesome when it's complete. Moving it around is a pain as it's quite fragile and there is no obvious place to lift it.

It doesn't do a lot, just rotating turrets, radar and landing ramp.

I would recommend the UCS Sandcrawler instead. Its not too huge, has as many play things as any SW set, several minifigs and looks great for display as well.

Can you do me a favour please? Can you run a tape measure between the main landing gear (widest point) and tell me what the footprint is? I have a piece of office furniture I'm hoping it will sit on but I want to know before I make a decision on ordering. Thanks!!!

Your utopia is needing to get young children involved ha ha.

My youngest and middle child have a compo in who can find me the pieces the fastest . We build for around half an hour a day as otherwise they get bored .

I shall lend you my conveyor belt kids for the week if you like ha ha .

Falcon arrived today as I missed the courier yesterday. Christ there's a lot of pieces, I struggled to find somewhere to lay them all out. Put a good few hours into it this evening and barely 1/4 of the way through.

The quality is better than I expected, One damaged piece so far that was still usable provided it was fitted somewhere that the damaged edge didn't touch another piece.

The total footprint at the outer edges of the landing gears is 32cmx44cm.

Hoppum...many thanks. How wide is it overall too?

Grrrrrrrr...well, work has kinda stalled on the GT3 as I am missing some parts. A quick look at the manual shows that I am missing at least five 11 hole black bar thingies, and the angled black bar thing that forms the bottom of the rear bumper.

So where/how do I order spares?

I'll now depart from the proper sequence in the instructions and do as much as I can in bits, as I want to see if I am missing anything else before I order. Annoying really, and it has taken the shine off a bit, but that's what you expect with a cheap Chinese copy I guess. Also puts me off the MF as that's got twice the part count and twice the scope for errors I guess!

Anyway, nearly there, and it does look way more impressive and 991 shaped in the flesh...

Does your instructions have a parts list at the back? Mine didn't. I downloaded the instructions as a pdf from Lego. There is a part list at the back.
Identify the numbers of the parts you need from that.

You can either order the bits from Lego direct, but this takes frustratingly long. The better option is to go to bricklink. Search for the part number. Find a UK seller with them in stock. Order and pay using paypal and you'll probably get them delivered the next day. This is a much quicker way than the lego site.

I had loads of pieces over at the end and would be pleased to help you out FOC if I have the ones you need.

Who did you order the UCS Falcon from?

Getting bored of waiting for SusenGo to respond to my numerous messages and they're obviously shipping now frown

Who did you order the UCS Falcon and SSD from (see my previous post as to why)?

I had ordered from SuSenGo a month ago but opened a dispute, won, and got my money back from Aliexpress. They didn't list the Falcon as a pre-order, then the claimed they had shipped it, even supplying a tracking number that didn't work. When I emailed them they claimed they would talk to DHL and find out the progress (a blatant lie) instead of admitting they hadn't sent it and were waiting for stock. It took about a week for the money to arrive back in my credit card but its sorted now. I used a Post office card so got a clean exchange rate with no fees but anyone else would have been stung for 2.75% going out and coming back.

I have now re-ordered from Dollhousebuilder because they are one of the very few sellers that claim to send in a box instead of a bubble bag, which for a big set is important. I will only be buying sets that are in stock in future.

I ordered from 'Gelida Trading Co Ltd' but someone mentioned previously that they've changed their store name.

I've come across some missing bits sadly, although on the bright side they're the 2x2 smooth top slabs so they're not holding up the build, just means I'm missing a few decorative bits.

Approximately 60cm.
