So, I appear to have ordered a Lepin 20004 via paypal when a bit tipsy at the weekend (brave, but at least I used paypal goods so should be able to claw it back should it not arrive) and a Lepin 05007 just now via Aliexpress properly with the Pockit.
Nice work!

Two sets I really want but they're not available here yet, sigh...

I'm in the same boat with that susengo. It says it's shipped, but the Dahl tracking number doesn't work.
As I understand it though aliexpress holds on to the money until you say it's delivered, so if it isn't we should get a refund. If it doesn't go to plan my brief flirtation with lepin will be over.

Just had a quick look through the feedback and found this note
"The product is good quality and has taken two days to build, all pieces are accounted for and the Super Star Destroyer looks magnificent. Lepin the company has packed the pieces in separate sealed plastic bags and it is easier than previous China Lego sets to build because the pieces are sorted out. As for the order, I ordered on the 27th July 2016, seller said item was dispatched on 28th, 1st week not arrived, 2nd week still not arrived, 3rd week still not arrived, all 3 weeks messaged seller and seller replied customs issues in China. I however do not think this is the case, simply what I believe it to be, is that the seller did not have stock and was listing in advance to generate sales before the factory released the set. I have seen a few of complains regarding this in the feedback section, but to be fair to the seller, the seller has kept to the 25 days delivery guarantee, 3 days DHL from China, real date sent from china 21/08/2016 . Next time just say PREORDER in listing"
Could explain a few things.

In my experience you're perfectly fine currently, they'll be waiting on stock and trying to save face by giving you the tracking number. The tracking will be real, it's just that the number they've given you will be from their book of shipping labels ready to go on boxes.

Also remember you're covered by Aliexpress, so just give them a chance wink

So where is best to order these from chaps : aliexpress, or elsewhere? (ideally via pay-pal so swmbo doesn't notice me spending money she doesn't know I have lol!)

Cafe corner done, no bits missing!

This was an enjoyable build, still have the bank to go but that one can wait. I'll probably pick up the Parisian restaurant at the weekend time permitting.

Now onto the Porsche.

I'm sure someone will be along in a minute to answer that as a few have ordered from Aliexpress, I buy all of mine locally.

So far, Aliexpress. I took MIKE's suggestion of a prepaid credit card (pockit) onboard and use that for Aliexpress as they don't take debit cards. Other alternative is to message Aliexpress sellers and ask if they'll take paypal (some will, some won't). Pay as "goods" and you get protection but it's not as good (or motivating for the seller, I suspect) as Aliexpress' escrow service looks. And you'll need to discuss with sellers, some have english better than others.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3401983 has quite some discussion, looks like a lot of the kits are very new and it may well be that sellers are indeed preselling them, then marking as dispatched to stop Aliexpress returning payments.

I am now pretty sure that no one actually has a Lepin Falcon yet or a DS2. There are no reviews anywhere and the advert photos are of the Lego version (with Lego on the studs) with the box photos made in Photoshop. I will let the clock run down but will file a claim near the end. A pre-order advert for the DS2 says they expect it mid-September, hopefully the Falcon will be the same.

Pretty poor that these compaines are basically lying about having one, instead of listing as a pre-order.

...but it's fine that they are supplying blatant rip-offs of LEGO products?

Really, can you expect any better?

Let's not go down this route with this thread and play nice, can we?

I know myself and others discussed at length before on the other thread on the rights and wrongs of LEPIN.

This is my thinking too. There are enough eBay dropshippers to know the form. I'll give them a while yet - well, as long as the Aliexpress buyer protection lasts at least!

I usually use a 'special' credit card, reserved for purchases such as these, but for reasons unknown used my 'usual' one.

Should I be keeping a hawkeye on my statements? Surely Aliexpress are effectively Escrow? Payment had to be processed by 3D secure too.

Ordered the falcon a few days ago from aliexpress, had a message it's been shipped then another a few minutes later from the vendor saying they're waiting on stock and will be available mid September. Prob not going to get round to building it til the new year anyway so not too stressed. Yet!

Super star destroyer has arrived today as promised, 7 days door to door.

I can't pick the bones out of it really as it's just a big box of bricks with instructions/sticker.

Do you know which store you bought it from? I may well need a good store if my current transaction goes wrong.

Still no tracking on my Porsche from susengo. I did send them a message questioning this and they replied with some rubbish about it taking a few days to show up (its been 10 days since order).
I guess I will wait up until the buyer protection thing is running down. If it hasn't arrived I will raise a dispute.
