I don't remember adding a photo of my DeCool 911 - here it is finished, and I'm a huge fan of the green.

A handful of smaller green pieces had a very slight difference in colour, but not really noticeable. Only one deformed piece, but luckily I could still use it as there wasn't a single green piece left over. Phew.

Genuine Lego flaws aside for this model, the DeCool set is a very close replica of the Lego original.

OK, so I pulled the trigger on the Lepin R2-D2 from Gelida. Unfortunately my bank has now rejected to pay it twice on my debit card (I'm now in the US, which may be causing problems) after asking for a verification code, which I put in and having to do an online security thing saying I recognised the transaction.

Anyone got any thoughts? I still have it ordered, I just haven't been able to pay yet, I take it they wont send it until Aliexpress confirm I've paid as Aliexpress hold the money until I confirm I recived it and all OK.
Yes, you have ordered the item. You have "reserved" that price. You have some time to pay for it. If you don't, the order will be automatically cancelled. (I am not sure about the lenght of time, but it can be even some days).

For instance, you can place an order via phone, which sometimes has better prices, and pay via the computer, if you feel safer that way. Once you pay, aliexpress will check the payment. Once aliexpress has the money checked, the seller starts the shipping process.
The problem appeared to be using a debit card (which the bank didn't like), using my credit card (same bank) they were happy with, I guess credit cards offer a bit more protection? Anyway, ordered and paid for, just have to wait for it now. smile

Hi Grant,

the Death Star is a fun build. I built one with my son, he likes it a lot. The play value for a kid is excellent. For a kid to play with it, I recommend removing the laser beam of the death star, it is too fragile. For a display piece, no problem. The structure of it is very strong. Have fun.

Cheers Bud. Think I might start it after I finish the Tumbler.

I'm tempted to get the Death Star. Can you advise if there might be any way of fitting the 75093 Death Star Final Duel kit into the Emporer's throne room on the Death Star? I've been wondering how we can combine my son's kits and add extra detail/playability.

Just gone for (two) of these. Lepin 21007.

I went for the super cheap delivery option (20-40 days) as its £10 less than DHL. Lets hope that wasn't a mistake!

Do these come with the motors etc? My son is keen on the Maersk freight train, but I'm unclear on what exactly wiould arrive.

I have spent a long time avoiding that.
Some seem to be motorised, others not.

The ones that are motorised seem to be a simple on/off, akin to the very first 70's trains rather than the later 80's and 90's Lego ones which are remote control via various means.

What is sad though is that the modern power functions ones aren't remote control without quite a bit of expense per model.
Personally I think the 12v or 9v are the best and of course easy to retrofit in that they don't require hiding batteries in the trains but that does mean individual train control is harder.

So if on/off is ok I'd leave as is (assuming they come with them), if you want on-train speed control I'd probably go with a 88002 with 8878 or 8881
If you want remote control you could also add 8879 and 8884.

That is the Lele Death Star, the same as I got my daughter for Christmas (she is still working away at it!). It is an huge build! It is a lot of fun and it has a lot of interactive play features you will find pretty cool as you build them.

The problem we had was the kit only included the large black angled plates (http://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-black-wing-6-x-12-left-30355) in one direction - so I had to order replacements.

The colours in the instruction manual can be hard to determine at times - the original Lego manual that can found online in pdf format is just as hard, in my opinion, to determine colours. The new Lego manual for the new Death Star is much easier to decipher and some of the steps are in a more logical order than on the previous one.

We did encounter two 1x8 single width black bricks that were mismoulded (they looked they were melted from blaster fire on the ends) but other than that everything is great (Luke's hair could have been better … they used a girl's hair mould instead of the original).

In short, it is absolutely awesome and by far the best Lego set I've ever seen!

That looks awesome!

One thing I have found is the train wheels do not roll. We got the Amusement Park with Roller Coaster and it used the train wheels. They would not roll - I had to use a round needle file to get them to work as the opening is just ever so slightly too small.

Here is a review I found online for the Maersk train that confirms the wheels will not roll.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4G9ZIJNaqo (15:45 for wheels and magnets)

Here is his follow-up with a fix (he states the axles are too long - but in the Emerald they were the right length so he just filed them to the right length): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE8rRtL4OTo

In the video it is suggested to replace the whole assembly but perhaps just replacing the wheel itself (http://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-black-trainwheel-8-2-14-6-50254) but that does not address the weak magnet issue.

Let us know.

I hear you - I'm working on the UCS Falcon and all the greys are not as much fun as looking at some of the modular buildings I have bought that are attracting me with their bright colours! (and possibly the realization that there are only so many work surfaces in my house and the Falcon is taking up a lot of space …)
