My 12 year old daughter just finished hers tonight! She started on it just after Christmas. She did not work on it every day (there were smaller sets she built in the time as well), but it was a good exercise in logic and critical thinking skills. Not to mention patience for something this size and complexity to finish.

Nest up for her is either the Ewok Village or the Modular Town Hall - she has both waiting to do.

I've been trying to convince her to work on UCS Millennium Falcon but she says that's mine (I think she is a bit intimidated by all the near-monocoloured parts and disappointed it does not have an interior to play in, like the one she got for Christmas).

I'm really looking forward to the newest Clone Wars starship that Lepin announced! So much so I'm going to have restrain myself until the end of the month to preorder it. Then, just like the video linked a few posts back, I am going to need the UCS Star Destroyer and UCS Vader's command ship to display with it …

My wife actually came up with a good idea - she said to put them in the garage in response to my suggestion of hanging them from the ceiling with fishing line like model airplanes - so I could hang them from the ceiling in the garage! That wouldn't bother me at all. (especially if I have a place to put them when built).

Was that the desired outcome of the experiment or were you hoping for a different outcome?

That's interesting given the number of hits that come up on ebay when searching for 'lepin' including many that barely mention that's what they are, and almost imply they are 'real' Lego. I suppose it might depend how you describe it.

I got a Caterham before Christmas (I think) and was quite impressed, despite 3 missing pieces.

I'll let you find out the use of those two bits, I liked the use of the spooky head too.

Ditto, that looks fantastic, I guess it's pricey because Lepin have had to do all the "hard work" that Lego normally cover. Though, I'm guessing it's a rip-off of someone's existing MOC.
According to some posts I have read on reddit dot com the gold logo (as per this picture) is Lepin's guarantee for no missing parts and numbered bags.

Yes, bags numbered for construction order - just like that other company from Denmark.

So, the prices are supposed to be higher because of this - which is understandable.

It also shows that Lepin is listening to their customer base and want to improve their service and product; both good things!

Just a reminder that the 7th anniversary sale on AliExpress starts in just under 5 days with discounts to be had on your products.

Have a look around now on some stores (e.g. Gelida) and it'll show you what the price of the item will be during the sale. A super star destroyer currently at £105 will be down to £89 during the sale.

There are also coupons which you can build up now for use during the sale.

Thank you for the tip!

Do you know how long the sale will be on for?

How can a person tell which sellers will be offering discounts? Or will they all have to be offering them?

It will run between the 28th and 30th march, starting midnight US pacific time (about 9am here)

They're promoting coupons and coins on the days running up to it.

https://sale.aliexpress.com/__mobile/Msite_shoppin...

Download and use their app to earn more coupons in the next few days before the start of the event.

Look for the pink 7th icon to see items which will be promoted under the sale.

Try as I might, I cannot find Gelida Toys storefront. I can find the Gelida Toys Trading Co, Ltd (which does not have any product! - https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1962553) and I can find the Gelida Store (https://www.aliexpress.com/store/2310030)

Can you provide a link, please. (I know I've been there before, but I am not sure how to search for store fronts - only for product and even typing in the exact wording of the posted pictures does not take me there).

It was a lesson in the basics of importing, buying and selling and a test to see if EBay would stand the sale of Lepin. She is learning that earning money and business isn't as easy as she might have thought. It wasn't her desired outcome as that avenues now a dead end. For me, yes, I suppose it was desirable as it's a small step in her understanding that life's not all roses and effort is required to succeed.

Rather ironically, I think Gelida are suffering some passing off on their name by other merchants who are putting "gelida toys" into their product titles biggrin

World Fashion Toys Store appear to be one of them and they're offering the 7th anniversary discount on something like this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2017-New-LEPIN-050...

I've no idea how reliable they are however so your mileage may vary.

AliExpress appear to be steering people towards using the app to collect and acquire coupons to use. You may start to see their promotional activity change with regards to coupons and discounts over the next few days.

My 911 arrived today, can't wait to start building it!

Also I may be heading to Dehli soon for work, I think that Lepin is available in India but does anyone have any recommendations as to any stores to buy it from in this area? Thanks!

That build is coming along well.

We've noted that the "rays" coming from the dish can fall off rather easily.

I used hot glue on the feet of my AT-OT and Dropship and that went on very easily and made them stick well.

The beauty about hot glue is that it will just peel off the blocks and not melt them together. It's not a permanent hold, but it holds well enough to keep things together MUCH better for certain high stress or vulnerable areas.

Just a suggestion (although yours is most likely for display as opposed to play).
