Thanks for the permission. I for one had been losing sleep about posting on here knowing that it was upsetting you.

Anyway last nights progress.
Looking good. Was looking at the "speed build" video last night. Certainly a lot to it!
I have the Lego Porsche. It took me 18 hours overall, I dismantled it this week so I could store it and build it up again over winter. It took 2 hours and a chipped tooth to dismantle!

So far I think I've spent around 8 hours including some sorting out etc. I'm a pretty speedy builder though I built the UCS falcon in around 18 hours over two days.

I have to say this is my favourite build so far. The way it comes together is incredible. I would even go as far to say that the Lego version represents value for money.

The only downside is there are a get tolerance issues with a couple of parts meaning thing don't line up 100%. It wouldn't be a problem on a normal kit, but a small issue on technic.

Surely with the cost of postage and the relatively low price in the UK, there's not much saving by buying the knock-off of this?

I feel the price of the Wall-E set in genuine Lego to be fair and reasonable so would never buy a Lepin Version.

My Lego Wall-E had the neck problem and Lego immediately sent me the replacement parts for free, this sort of back up and service is why I buy Lego.

The Prices on some of the Lego Star Wars sets are so high I would never ever buy them anyway which is why buying a Lepin Millennium Falcon set at about a 1/5 of the price is something I had no problem with.

UCS Lego is not even on my radar to buy, the prices are so high its prohibitive.

I agree with the above comments, if the Lego set is available, something I really want and around £100 I'll probably still buy the Lego version.

If it's retired or overpriced at rrp then I'll look at the lepin version.

In other news, I've just ordered the batpod. Not from Amazon though...

It was all of £11 including delivery (when added to the other purchases I made from that seller it got me other discounts and free delivery on the whole order), so considerably cheaper than the £40 ish price for the genuine kit.

Be interesting to see whether it has the original wobbly head mount or the modified one.

Like Getragdogleg above, I wouldn't buy something like that as a knock-off, personally. I'd buy something out of production (the haunted house posted by _Mike_ above is very tempting) but not when it's still available. That feels wrong, and I mentioned previously, possibly on this thread, that if you ever sell your Lego in future it probably works out cheaper than Lepin anyway, even with a near 75% saving on RRP.

It claims to have the updated head mount . I guess I'll find out in the next 10-30 days...

Didn't even know the emerald night train was available!

I've got the Lego cargo train & high speed train, so I might have to pick it up and compare the tracks/electrics.

Interesting. Even the revised Wall-e isn't that strong, so I'll be very interested to hear how this one holds up (literally).

It never came with electrics from Lego you had to purchase separately I believe.

Tonight's update. Good progress, but disappointingly have found some clear parts missing. Just cosmetic parts (the rear lights) I have used some spare parts to fill the gaps, but will need to order the proper bricks. Not a big deal. It should only cost a few pounds max.

_MIKE_, how readily available is Lego where you are?

I'm asking because I read some interesting blogs/forums yesterday which had a couple of theories:
1) Lepin is actually some sort of Lego company (a bit far fetched I think)
2) Lego aren't really fully functional in Asia yet which is why Lepin are being particularly aggressive - they are trying to establish themselves as a known brand for this type of toy in Asia. Imagine if you'd been going to a shop for years and were used to seeing wall to wall Lepin, then one day Lego appears. You'd think it was a copy (and wonder why it was more expensive).

Given theory 2 it would be interesting to know how available it is where you are. Is your local shop wall to wall Lepin or does it have Lego too?

Jader hasn't broken any rules with his post, so no (if I'm being pedantic yours is actually closer to breaking them for swearing wink ).If you don't like the content - simply don't react, that just fuels the debate.
