To the guys building the gt3s.

Have you experienced any shortages?

The ones during my build have put me off buying another kit. So I would like to hear especially if you haven't had any. (To restore my confidence)
So far, no. Can I ask, were your parts in freezer bags or sealed bags? How far did you get before you were short?
I suppose I was around where the build above is. The kit came in sealed bags apart from the large orange parts that came in a freezer bag. It almost felt as if a bag was missed from my parcel.

Technical question: just curious, how on earth do lepin copy all these parts? Do they get an original, make a mold of it in order to then create parts using injection molding? It must be difficult because all the parts being copied are not solid they are hollow. Can you imagine the amount of molds they've had to make, for all these unusual pieces i.e. not standard lego bricks.

Either the parts are 3d scanned or someone measured up the bricks and recreated them in CAD to make moulds from. The Lego system is all about standard sizes so it's not hard to recreate most of the standard bricks by replicating 1 or 2, start moulding them in different colours and you have the means to make the bulk of most kits, it just leaves specialty pieces to copy for particular sets.

In other news I'm still waiting for my Disney Castle to be shipped, I guess the above process is still being done so not available yet.

Only on Asia right now. Should be landing in UK soon, about 1 week.
This unboxing vid shows the 'masts' part are the proper gray colour unlike a lot of brinklink versions.
The radar seems to be printed, not a sticker. Manual looks like A3 ring bound.

Today's parcel was the SSD so hopefully tomorrow's is the Falcon. Paid £3 import duty on each.

Don't understand why I had to wait for the Falcon to release if they send them in separate parcels anyway but oh well. laugh

Well two evenings and here is the progress on the GT3

As I progressed through, I found a new problem with the instructions, some of the pages are too large! It's still only a problem because there are the 1:1 sections to match the parts, eg here perfect scaling:

Then here too small:

What's the current best price for the Millenium Falcon UCS you've found? Have prices just shot up?
Cheapest I can find on aliexpress is around £140 incl. shipping.

Finished the Star Destroyer, GT3 next. Built two kits so far, no parts missing. The opposite in fact, had a suspiciously large number of bits left over from the Destroyer. I'm certain I didn't miss any out from the build.

Added the Imperial Destroyer to my basket, want to build up a Star Wars display. Might add the 05026 Death Star. I'm struggling with justifying the price of the 05033 MF but it would be good to add to the collection.

Edit:

Oooh, didn't realise how big it is! Time to order one!

That's about the going rate, and has been for as long as I've seen it listed.

I'd say that's a good price, I've paid £112, no shipping required.

From the sound of it you were missing this bag:

Ha! Three evenings isn't going to make a difference. Besides I was back on it today. Anyway it's nice to be able to finish a car... wink

I think unfortunately despite "finishing" it I think I have missed a gear out, I have a spare gear (along actually with quite a few other spares) and turning the wheels does nothing. Going to be tricky to troubleshoot....

Have you missed out the grey gear, immediately behind the gear lever housing and in front of the white springy gear? I did, but I was able to install it, although it was a ballache...

Page bloody 12 I missed it from!

I just about managed to install it from the underneath with removing quite a bit and utilising how far some of the pieces will bend!

FFS. Really do not like google photos. Hopefully fixed now.

I'll add as well, all the other bags were opened far earlier, that one was also the only one that was only opened at such a late stage.
