Very impressed with my UCS Falcon, looks awesome but it's a little brittle!
I thought it might have been just me but it's OK so long as it doesn't move at all, otherwise there's bits falling off here and there and not just small bits. I don't think the design is up to the modern Lego standard in terms of securing heavy sections and the Lepin bricks are clearly not as good.

I cant for the life of me think how to store this. I saw an acrylic case on line but it works out about the same price as the model with shipping and VAT.

The brick clutch is definitely not as good as Lego, the main culprits are the legs but I suspect they could have a few bits modified with Lego to keep them in place, as a last resort you could glue. I had thought about mounting it flat against the wall but once I built it it was clear most of the top plates just sit on top so lots of glue would be needed. Think I'll just take it apart and enjoy the build again in the future.

Just about finished the base of the Disney castle, hell of a lot of pieces to not see much vertical progress. Downloaded the Lego instructions as the Lepin ones don't have a parts list, which is handy for building a list of missing bricks on Bricklink. There haven't been many missing bricks so far and the kit is so big I'm not sure if they are actually missing or I just can't find them! Really enjoying it so far though.

Unleash the Kragle!

Following this topic with interest as I've always run away from the bigger Lego sets due to the price, some very tempting options being discussed, thanks to all involved for taking the risks and sharing the insider info.

The best presentation method I can find off the shelf is a case from puredisplay. Trouble is is knocking on £150 delivered which is about the same price as the kit. I have asked them if they could do us a discount, you never know. They could get a fair few orders from this if the price is right I think.

Check the prices on eBay though. The 1381 piece Falcon is over £65 on there, compared to £35 including shipping on AliExpress. It's drop shipped from China too, so no benefit paying the extra.

Well I ordered the UCS Falcon 5 days ago, expecting a long wait for it to be delivered, but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived today. No customs charges, just a big box full of Lepin. I got it from Dolls House on Aliexpress for those that are interested.

The plan is to build it over Christmas with my daughter, though the excitement is such that we might not be able to wait.

Should I be checking it is complete before I confirm the delivery? Not sure I want to do that particular job.

Ahh, I ordered mine 4 days ago from gelida and it's still awaiting shipment frown
Thinking about ordering another if the status doesn't change by tomorrow. If anyone would cover royal mail delivery cost (£20.90 next day, £16.40 2 days) I'll sell the other one via paypal for the original price + royal mail?

Just placed an order for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (Lepin 20001) from Dollhousebuilder. Followed the advice of robemcdonald and just ordered it in a "simple box" (thank you Rob). I will see how this goes before considering one of the Star Wars UCS sets.

Skoff - might be worth checking you have all the parts in the next few weeks so you have time to order and receive any missing parts from Lego/Bricklink before you start building it. Could also check the parts against the Lego instructions / parts list rather than use the supplied instructions.

My USC Falcon arrived yesterday after ordering from Dream House six days ago.

I started doing a parts check last night which I'll hopefully finish tonight, so far the parts look to be of a good quality for the price. Pretty impressed so far.

UCS Falcon arrived just now. Ordered 9 days ago from Susengo, I've had a single £3 customs (?) charge from DHL, that's it.

I am SO excited. Wuck Forking.

Got back from a business trip to find my delivery from Gelida had arrived (still waiting for Dollhousebuilder - tracking info not working grrrr)

UCS and SSD in one box. £17 customs charge - but I can live with that given the total cost compared to the originals!

Minifig on top for scale smile

Manual a bit out of shape - but will probably download the Lego one anyway

Sticker a bit crumpled too, but hopefully will flatten out OK

Yet to unwrap the SSD!

I think the stickers are a bit pot luck, especially when these things are re-boxed and it's really pot luck as to how much care the packer takes.

My GT3 stickers were fine, not sure if there are any for the SSD though.

What is that sticker? My set doesn't appear to have one.

It's a sticker with the specs of the ship on it (size, engines, crew number,) that sort of thing. Yes, the SSD should have a sticker (the Lego one does).

Ah okay, I'm not too bothered about that. Mines getting mounted onto a wall, or blown up. Haven't quite decided yet.

It's a shame the seller couldn't spare a minute to place the stickers and maybe the instructions between a couple of pieces of cardboard to protect them in transit.
