Damn and blast. Was going to give some Lepin a try, but no credit card rules out aliexpress!

Seems either credit card or some dodgy looking paypal-esque thing. I think not.
You can just use a pay as you go credit card, that's what I do on site such as this.

Brilliant idea and something I'd been meaning to set up but paypal is now almost universally accepted so it fell by the wayside. Pockit applied for.

Well, that's torn it - having just seen the adjustable vesa mounted UCS Falcon, I'm going to have to try and justify the cost of buying a Lepin one. As it's only Lepin I won't be worried about KraGle-ing it together for strength either.

I was in the Lego store in Florida in 2008 when the original kit was still on the shelf for "sensible" money - I was going to buy it but realised the box was way too big and heavy to fit easily in a suitcase with the other kits I picked up... Doh!

Mike: How do your local prices compare with the online prices ?

From memory the VW camber was 24 quid, the three modular ranged from 36 to 39 quid, the Porsche is going to cost me 62 quid and the super star destroyer will be 72 quid. Plus side I have no shipping and I get the box, although all boxes so far have ended up in the bin. I've not bought to resell ever so see no point in keeping them, plus for what you can buy them for new, I can't see any use for them on the second hand market.

So the online is more expensive but includes shipping.

Its an interesting thing this Lepin, its a rip off as far as set design goes but the stuff functions on a component level so having a great big tub of this as opposed to actual Lego would give you the same play for a lot less money.

The nagging in the back of my head about it "not being real Lego" is a hard one to get over though. I might for a retired UCS set I intend to keep made and displayed but not for general play with the kids, I would know it was a copy.

I had no idea it was possible to be a Lego snob.

This morning I've played a couple of shops off against each other and have reduced prices.

Super star destroyer 63 quid
Porsche 55 quid

I've not opened the boxes or anything yet, I'll wait for the boss to recover from me telling her I'm sticking a 49 inch model on the wall!

With the motorised sets like the crane, are the motors copies, or genuine, or are they included at all?

I've got an 8043 remote controlled excavator which must be one of the best Technic sets ever released - do they do that with remote control??

I'll let you know once I have one. I'm not ordering anything from aliexpress so rely on the toy shops here bringing it all in, they're just currently telling me they'll have them soon.

Just ordered the Porsche from aliexpress. I ordered from Susango as others have done, but I used the aliexpress ap so it's costing me £70.47 delivered (obviously expecting to pay some duty). I will update when it arrives.
If you can use the app though as it is about 20% cheaper.

I've never heard of Lepin before, and the chance to buy some of the discontinued models to complete my modular building collection is too good to pass up. I think I'll take a punt on cafe corner and if all goes well I'll get the green grocers, and then the UCS Falcon.

I'll stick with Lego for current offerings but to be able to get the models I'd given up on ever being able to get hold of has made my day bounce

That seems a decent price, I paid 55 but I don't think I could ship it to you for cheaper unfortunately. Interested to know if you get the box like I did as I know russy didn't.

To be honest the model I really want (other than the ups falcon) is the unimog. It doesn't look like they do one though. Maybe soon. (Fingers crossed)
It's my first foray into knock off gear though so this is very much a test.

I just broke open my original unopened Unimog to make a start on it with the boy. Just found I've got two instruction book 2's but no 1.

Brilliant.

You can download the instructions from the Lego website iirc
