Will this be under the Lego Creator set like the Ferrari, Mini etc and will it be the same size as the others?

It's an Ideas set.

Nice set, and I'll doubtless pick one up at some point to accompany the Mini, VW Campervan, F40 and Beetle, but it seems quite pricey given that the piece count is quite a lot lower than the similarly priced previous cars.

Licensing costs, I suppose.
Their "own brand" stuff is reasonably priced I think (e.g. City). Add in Disney or any other licensing and they seem to really ramp it up. I think the Minecraft stuff in particular is a real rip off.

Also I think that with the Caterham being IDEAS it means it has a limited run compared to Creator so there is less volume to spread any fees over. Possibly.

Russ has already posted on the other Lego thread to say that Lego is keeping this set to itself so no prospect of a group buy....

There's a review of the LEGO Caterham here.

It looks pretty good but I don't think I will be adding it to my collection.

Pretty disappointing really, compared to the original model created this is a let down. Non working steering, seriously!

The steering on the F40 doesn't work either but that doesn't bother me when its sitting on the shelf. Were you going to vroom, vroom it around the floor ? smile

Look at the original design's steering - it's basically a way of holding the front wheels at an angle; far too fragile to be considered proper steering.

I didn't think it was released until 1st October?!

Has a bricks and mortar outlet breached the embargo....?

It's certainly been available to order on JL online for at least a day - I guess they put it on the shelves at the same time.

Wall-E was similarly early from JL.

I'm a bit 50/50 on it, it doesn't look as good as the ideas model but it has grown on me a bit, I liked the Lego number plate on the Caterham in the press photos, I need some of the corner quarter pieces in black, its a must.

I thought the RRP was going to be £69.99, that's showing £79.99?

The JL site showed £69.99 two days ago - obviously responding to demand before it's on Lego's own site laugh
