I have a full Ultegra groupset (apart from the bottom bracket) taken off my TCR that was destroyed in a crash. I can't decide whether to sell it or change the 5700 105 set up on my old Defy 1. In particular as I've already robbed the rear clipper to replace a seized one off the defy.

If I sold, what is a realistic price for a used Ultegra groupset. The ones on eBay appear rather overpriced but if that is the going rate...

Hang onto it in case a half-decent frame comes along and you fancy building it up.

If you do sell it, sell the individual parts. IME you'll make more that way..

Main reason I can see to update the defy would be to have 11 speed on both. If you never swap wheels, isn't going to be an issue. 5800 105 is also pretty cheap and very good.. N+1 excuse - build another frame?

Really the best idea would be to upgrade the 5700 105, and send all those bits down to me as spares for my roadie.

Levers, Brakes, Crank, Cassette will sell pretty quickly if priced well. I would say £120, £55, £90, £35 are prices you should be able to achieve. Everything else is not as easy to move at a decent price. Unless you are desperate for the cash I'd upgrade the winter bike.

Bugger it. I seem to spend most of my time riding the Defy so I'll treat it to an upgrade and sell the 105 stuff.

There's loads of reasons to keep Ultegra ... and for the money/performance, it must be the best groupset out there?

I was planning on buying 105 5800 on my winter bike but end up robbing Ultegra from my training bike and buying another Ultegra groupset to freshen it up. Having 3 bikes all on 11 speed makes things a little easier and there's very little in each bikes shifting with 2 on Ultegra and the other on DA9000.

Before doing anything too hasty you need to see whether you can get an 11 speed cassette on you old Defy rear hub.

There's no value in second-hand Ultegra. Market's dead, I tell thee.

But fear not. If you're willing to pay my expenses only, I'll not charge you to take it away and recycle it. All you need to do now is email me and arrange a collection time and my old steel roady will be given a new lease of life I'll ensure it gets recycled in an ethical, environmentally friendly, purpose built facility...

It's on its 4th set of wheels. I either wear them out or crash them biggrin
