After being inspired by James May reassembling his model locomotive (very slowly cool ) I recently took the plunge and bought my first ever Hornby train set - the Flying Scotsman, plus a few extras.

Baby steps in to this hobby so for now I want to set it up on the provided TrakMat. Out of the box this is folded in a similar way to an Ordnance Survey map and therefore doesn´t lie flat on a (hard) floor. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to de-crease it?

Thanks in advance!

Is it material? If so iron it.

No it´s a sort of mildly plasticised paper. It seems to hold its fold lines very well despite rolling, rerolling the "other way", etc.

Place books / heavy objects on it for a day or two to flatten it out perhaps?
