Looks great, did it all fit together okay or were there problems? Would you recommend constructing a Pocher to someone else?pocher_071 by MBBlat, on Flickr

The fit was mostly OK apart from the rear engine cover - I nere got it to fit down properly and still sits slightly proud. However looking at other peoples models on the web this dosent seem to be a common problem, so something in my kit may be just a little bit out.Considering the size and price, some of the detail is supprisingly lacking, although most of it isn't visible when the model is completed. My bigest bugbear is the pre painted plastic parts of the bodywork, no only are they a slightly different shade to the metal parts, but they were painted on the sprues, and some of the sprue gates are on visible edges.
I also managed to loose a couple of the sidelights - ordered spares from poacher which should have come in a set of 3, got 1 supplied, complained and got sent 4 more
Having said that its a big, and heavy, display piece and if you want to go and superdetail it then than it is emminently possible. There is also a fair bit of aftermarket support for these kis, so you don't have to scratch build everything.
If you can afford it I would recomend it, as it is an interesting build experiance. I built mine largely OOB with only a few simple additions (the odd hose, clamps and a carpet set off ebay, some aftermarket decals) and I also purchassed a CD giving some build tips and reference photos. Paint was rattlecans and brush.
Okay, I have just received the studio shots of my model of HMS Victory, complete with figurehead and flags. The model is 1:64th scale and measures 1.6 metres long, has full gun deck detail on all three decks, and it took me 2 years to design, build the prototype and draw the plans and write the instruction manual!
Can't believe I had to make that on our dining room table!

That is absolutely fking brilliant.
When where and how much will the kits be?

It is my job, though...
I submitted all of the plans/drawings/instruction manual to the Italians a couple of months ago, so it should be released in about two year! No idea on the cost, it won't be cheap - but then, if you enjoy model making, this will keep you occupied for a good couple of years. And if made well, you'll have something quite valuable, too.
This gives a good indication of size, my step daughter posed by it (although it looks as if I pointed a gun to her head!)
And a few pics of the earlier stages of construction:
Ships boats (wood and photo etched brass)..
And spraying the top sides of the hull with Ronseal matt polyurethane clear varnish..
When you say designed and built over the last two years I guess you have a used a computer aided design program
then cut all the parts you need as and when. If that is the case I think to complete that in just two years is just
amazing.
Being all fingers and thumbs that rigging fills me with dread just looking at it.
Great work and superb skills you have.

Thank you! Yes, I use a CAD program to design all the parts, both wood and photo etched brass. I do the designs first, then upload them to the server in Italy, they cut and etch all the parts and send them back, ready for me to build. Usually there are quite a few mistakes, which I iron out while building the prototype - or discover via extra research that certain parts look slightly different, so I re do them, send them back to Italy, and wait for the revised parts to arrive. I turned all of the master cannon barrels myself, so I know they will fit perfectly into the carriages. these are then sent away to Italy, and cast. The last job is the instructions, plans and manual. that took some time, almost as much time as building the prototype model (33 full size plans plus a 120 page A3 building manual)then cut all the parts you need as and when. If that is the case I think to complete that in just two years is just
amazing.

I did have to design and build this in-between Victory..
Enjoyed the research when doing that one..
I'm off!
I used to think I was a modeller
Then I saw this amazing Watton's work...
In other words Chris, absolutely brilliant work
Victory is fabulous
and the trireme may not look quite as, er, complex but wow
You have made a trireme that could and would have worked and I've seen some fanciful junk that wouldn't have
It's another beauty
