Why? Surely you 'watch' a similar item and the price it sells for is its market price. If in doubt 'watch' 2 or 3 of the same item and get an average of the sold price.

Agreed.

Or sell the job lot as a Buy it now listing with best offers and see what comes in.

Other than that, it's specialist forums.

If you need to free up some space and cash keep what you think is going to go up in value, sell what isn't. With respect, there's not much in the die-cast collection you've shown which is worth holding on to IMO.

All of these are going back into the loft.

Unbuilt. Original. Perfect condition.

The 1/12 Tamiya kits in particular need to be built as it seems a waste to leave them in the boxes.

Any ideas as to their true value (I don't take too much notice of fleabay prices as they seem somewhat silly).

What to do........
I bought an as-new 1:12 Tamiya MP4/6 on Thursday for £90. I also paid £90 for the FW14B a couple of years ago via. EBay, and IIRC just over £100 for the Ferrari 641 about the same time.

I built this original version bt44 about 10 years ago. It's not as super detailed as some I've seen but I think I made a fairly good job of it. I also built it as a youngster in the 70s but that is long gone.

For Tamiya or Bburago you don't need to "watch" similar items, there are dozens in "completed listings", with the prices they fetched. 1:20 Tamiya F1's go for about a tenner each, one of the few exceptions is the Leyton House which seem to usually go for about £20-£30. There are thousands of them out there, plus they get re-released regularly - it's not like it's the 1940's.

Stumbled across this Onyx model earlier whilst sorting out the loft.

Clearly an Indy Car however which one? The box does not have a model number/code & there are no identification marks on the model itself.

I seem to recall that someone said that it might a model of the un-raced Ferrari Indy Car however I don't know for sure.

Is it a mass produced model of nothing in particular or is it something a little rare?

Don't even know from where I bought it which doesn't help much either!!

That's a real curiosity.

Even if it's worth pennies it's quite a cool thing to have.

Looks wrong shape for the Ferrari, more like the Newman/Haas car Nigel Mansell drove in 1993

^Lovely detail on that engine.

Who is it made by? What scale is it?

Tamiya and me smile

It is the 1:12 Caterham model, but a lot of what you see is scratch built - in the engine bay, the only bits from the kit are the brake fluid bottles, the cooling expansion tank and the pedal box...the original kit comes with a Ford BDR - this is a K-Series (R500)
Started them for a friend about a decade ago - after a long delay, getting on with finishing them...
Actually most proud about the full roll cage...

Here is the 'real' engine bay:

I'll start a new thread on them as I finish them off....

I like it a lot due to the proper scale finishes on the components like rubber hoses - very easy to just use gloss or matt.
