Pics of your models, please!

This little beastie arrived yesterday. A Hornby R052 Class 3f "Jinty" in LMS livery. The coaches are new too. Hornby R4388 LMS composite coaches.
The coaches are good as new but the loco, whilst in excellent condition, is a fairly old model. It ran ok out of the box but I stripped the chassis down and gave the wheels and copper pickups a good clean and it now runs lovely and smooth.
A nice addition to my small collection.
Airfix Hawker Hunter kit given to me on my 15th Birthday or thereabouts. Started it when I was off sick for a few weeks 15 years later.
Now just over 7 years later it's nearly finished

Never noticed PH had a scale model board! This is better than porn! 
Anyway, decided to have a bash at doing a model. Probably not done one since I used to mash everything together with paint and glue in a day when I was 14.
I'd love to get the detail some of you get on here, but it's not easy. On another note, where do you buy yours from? I went to hobbycraft today (where I got the tank below) and the selection was poor, expensive (1/35 Tamiya King Tiger for £45 quid!!) and less than ideal. I want a warship next, but of a reasonable size. I nearly bought a stug IV but i don't have an airbrush to get the camo setup right on it.
Anyway, back to what I was on about: All done with a normal brush, 2 spray cans and the tiny arresting hook of a broken model corsair to touch up tiny bits
Anyway, decided to have a bash at doing a model. Probably not done one since I used to mash everything together with paint and glue in a day when I was 14.

Sadly the old style corner model shop is now a rare beast. There are a few still around but depending on where you live it might be difficult for you to get to one. I buy some of my models over the internet and also at scale model shows. get yourself along to a show if you can.

I was looking at ebay and they were a bit pricey, however amazon were surprisingly cheap, and the selection on there was quite vast actually.

From what I can understand the model doesn't have a display stand.
It is too heavy.
So I think it sits in a cradle to avoid it falling over!!!!
When I have finished at Fairford, probably late Tuesday as I have some stuff to do on site, I will post some photos of the model out of the box.
I do know it is big so no idea where I will display it.

Thank for the info. From a quick search I can't see it at the 'revised RRP' anywhere. A couple of online sellers claim to have them at £120-130. Many places are now out of stock and others are still listing it at the original price. Nice though I'm sure it is £180 is a lot of money.And then the RRP was dropped to just £99.00 so I bought mine on Friday morning from My local model shop before I went back out to Fairford.
The quality is superb although i havent
had a proper look yet as only just got back from a hard 5 days at RIAT.

Antics Models in Gloucester is where I bought mine from on Friday - they have a number in stock & they also sell on-line if you want one.
They told me that the RRP had been reduced & all of the traders at RIAT were selling them at £99.00.
A couple of them said that as the RRP had been dropped they had no choice. None of the traders had any stock of 558 left on Sunday night so clearly the strategy of dropping the price had the desired effect.
I'll be honest - I wouldn't have paid £180.00 for it however at £99.00 tv's a bargain.
The model is a limited run of 4000 pieces. Mine is number 2060 & they all come with a collector card confirming the number of the model.
Here is mine out of the box.

Yes I dont like acrylic much, but as it's low odour I can get away with using it in a domestic no-stinky zoneIt isnt as robust as old style Humbrol and seems several microns thicker per coat but Humbrol dont MAKE old style paint any more anyway

How terrible are humbrol paints?
Bought a tamiya stug, painted it husing humbrol. The paint was thick and gloopy and left obvious marks all over the model where the paint had pooled, despite me applying it sparingly.
Managed to tidy them up, gave it a second coat after thinning the paint, and this left horrendous streaks all over the model.
Decided to change the colour totally, so used humbrol spray paint to totally spray the model a different colour. About 10 seconds later, the paint on the model reacted with the spray, it started bubbling and blistering and peeling and ruined it all.
Got annoyed, smashed it in half and threw it all in the bin.
£30 wasted.
