I am a big car fan and have collected Die cast 1:18 cars for a few years now, but now i fancy a change and a challenge, i popped into a Modelzone store earlier in the week and a few models took my fancy especially the 1:24 Tamiya DTM Cars, i looked in the box and they look good quality and a reasonably priced and are Pre Painted which i would like as i am new to this field. Are Tamiya good models to start off with, i have looked at Revell but the quality is not as great and they are not that much cheaper, also could someone tell me why some Tamiya 1:24 Models are like 40 quid? also are Tamiya paints any good?
The models i would like are;

Alfa 155 DTM, Martini and factory Alfa Romeo works team.
Mercedes C Class DTM, D2 and Promarkt, i know the Promarkt is very rare.

your help and opinions will be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

Adam.

Hi there!

Tamiya kits are generally the best on the market but with the current exchange rates, they are pretty pricey. Google is your friend with regards to how good they are and how to get the best out of them. Newer kits come with pre-cut masking take and excellent little metal decals for the badges etc. Revell do some pretty good kits as do Hasegawa.

Paints? Halfords car paints are excellent for the cars shell and undersurfaces. Vallejo paints are probably easier to use for the detail work.

hope that helps
