Quality scale model of a Spitfire for a 60th Bday pressy
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I am looking for a quality static model of a Spitfire for a 60th Birthday gift to go on a desk.
I have managed to find the below (please see link) but was wondering if anyone else had any good suggestions on where i could find other such scale models of a spitfire. Looking to spend max £150

Thanks in advance.

Only Joking.
The one in your link does indeed look crap. How about this one:

Never seen one in the flesh, but if you're going for a diecast one, the larger the better. The smaller stuff tend to have very deep panel lines.
I've always been strangely attracted to these:

I see there is now an optional stringer kit which would presumably fill the framework out a bit.
Cheers,
Dr_GN.

Got till the 14th August to buy it. Checking on the log books that his father wrote in after his sorties back int he 2 WW. Will let you know.
Dr_GN that model in the picture looks FANTASTIC!! is that a kit build? Thats along the line of what i am looking for.
Are there anymore options out there i can consider?

Thanks zorba, yes, it's a model I rebuilt recently. I built it originally years and years ago and it got mashed. It's a Matchbox 1/32 Spitfire Mk22/24, (currently re-boxed by Revell). I built the stand out of scrap aluminium since the u/c was glued 'up'.Dr_GN that model in the picture looks FANTASTIC!! is that a kit build? Thats along the line of what i am looking for.

If I were you I'd nip down to your local model shop (Modelzone perhaps?) and look at the current range of diecast aircraft.
BTW the brass/stainless ones I posted before are not too complicated to put together apparently, if you like the look of them.
Cheers,
Dr_G
Throw this into thee mix, its a really good airfix kit with great details, plus a motor for prop movement.
This will last longer (as he has to build the thing) and he may get the model bug.

You may be interested in this site, (My Partners uncles site and business), basically sells parts for WW2 aircraft namely spitfires. However we also have a full size replica, chassis EN398. Do a lot of weddings and private events and also film recording (was recently used in doctor who and was ben afflecks plane in pearl habour)
Has a running merlin lump which sounds fantastic, however the prop is just on a small motor for effect and safety!
If you are having a birthday bash send us a PM, stuff the models have a full size plane and give the merlin some revs!!
