its just thats there so much choice and jargon i dont know where to begin.

is it advisable for a big kid to go straight into a petrol car, what is the maintenence like?

Ive not bought an RC car in a long time so i am bit off with whats on the market. But i am a Nitro fan, like that they make a noise etc and the whole mechanics of the engine etc.

I have had a few traxxas models and really cant fault them, RTR they are fine and capable models in both electric guise.

Speed wise ultimately you'll be able to get a better performing electric car, but its gets very expensive with all of the batteries etc.

Maintenance wise the electric will be easier, the engine in the nitro car is potentially much messier, you have fuel to deal with, filters with oil etc, so if you spill anything all the crap sticks to the car etc and finally the exhaust gasses, you wont want to run it indoors (noise aswell).

I would go for a RTR Traxxas nitro car, with the TRX 3.3 you get great performance (for the whole tank, where batteries deterioate, quite easy to tune and spares / hop ups are easy to get hold of.

Jato is a good little 2wd car, rapid with the trx 3.3. Revo is great if you want a 4wd and want to race it eventually (But quite pricey), but then to throw something else in, if you want a large 4wd bashing truck pick yourself up a T-max or head over to HPI and get a Savage, these trucks are very tough but generally lack the punchy performance of the traxxas cars with the trx 3.3.
Road car wise the traxxas 4tec is very capable aswell.
