I noticed this in our local Hobbycraft the other day

I've not done any modeling since I was about 12. Back then the last thing I attempted was the Wasa ship - I never finsihed it - it was far to advanced for my skills at that age, my other bits and peices were just the usual airfix airplanes etc.

But when I saw this the other day I thought - i'd like to give that another go.

So I nipped down today and bougt myself the kit, a few paints some brushes, some cement and a mat.

I'm all excited again and am looking forward to gettign started.

I've no idea what my modeling skills will be like these days and I've no idea if the Tamiya kit is a good one or a bad one but as I've got a Eunos i thougth it'd be nice to build one as well.

I might try and document the build and stick some picture up here. Of course I might also make a balls up and pretend I never started this thread!

Enjoy. Instead of brush-painting the body, do a good job of prepping it and then a couple of light coats of Halfords grey primer, (spray can), or whichever colour primer is most appropriate, then finish it in the car colour of your choice; again using Halfords spray cans. All their spray paints are acrylics so you won't melt the plastic and you can get a really good finish with a little practice. Process is exactly the same as a full size vehicle. Then, of course, you can wax it, just like the real thing..................or treat it to light coats of their cleat lacquer. Do let coats dry before moving to next stage, though.

Been doing this for years and the results are most satisfying.

If/when you really get into modelling again then move on up to an airbrush - but keep life easy to start.

Might be worth buying a couple of cheapo kits to play with before you commit to the Eunos. In addition, all the bits will benefit from priming before painting, whether you're using enamels or acrylics to brush-paint to smaller bits, (you can buy small tins of primer for brushing from all model shops). Do it to enjoy it and to hell with the purists.
