Recommend me a Scalextric set for an 8 year old
Discussion
Don't go for anything bar scalextric, they are the biggest name for a reason. It's easy to get bits from anywhere, plus the car models nowadays are brilliant.
Best bet is to look for a scalextric start set, they are made to be a first set. Steer well clear of micro scalextric, you'll be bored of it straight away.
This is what you want, send us a pm if you want more help.

Jadlam are great, sell all sorts of extension kits etc that you can't even get from scalextric directly, (make their own sets with genuine scalextric parts)

Swings and roundabouts but it may be worth having a quick look on eBay!
Another vote for Scalextric Strat here, they do the three different sets all are under £100 each.

I was wondering how long that would take to make it's way onto this thread!
Definately go for Scalextric. After 32 years I'm still adding to my collection!
Although a bit over your set budget, for younger drivers the drift sets (or cars) are great fun. It's proper normal Scalextric but you can spin the cars around on corners so they face the opposite direction. My son is 10 and will play with the drift cars much longer than any of the others.
