I'd like to put some of the original tobacco advertising themes on to some of my minichamps models. The replacement kits are available fairly readily, but how would I go about lifting the old ones and fitting the news ones to the same standard as the originals?

Thanks

If they're an exact match, do you need to remove the originals?

The model comes as per the main pic. The JPS livery is as per the inlay, so you make a good point, only the helmet transfer needs to be lifted.

Are you wanting to keep the old decals (this is possible although tricky)? If not, easiest way, especially with the standard of application on the Minichamps models, is to go at them with a cocktail stick (gently) with a scratching motion. If you wish to remove part of a larger decal, lightly score around the bit you want to remove with a new scalpel blade. This does of course assume that they are waterslide decals and not tampo printed.

To reapply, I'd suggest a decal solvent to help the decals conform to the contours. Something such as Micro-Sol

How about a micromesh stick and/or T-cut?

Beauty of a cocktail stick is it's nice and soft. I'd go for a metal polish instead of T-Cut though as that won't (shouldn't) harm or change the underlying paint.

The decals, especially those on Minichamps models, are rarey that well stuck down, so it's normally quite easy to remove them with minimum effort.

Can't you buy a crappy one off Ebay and experiment with that?
