I just bought a new RC truck ( and loving it )
Currently using a Overlander 11.1V 3S - 25C 2700mAH battery.

I want another more powerful battery but there are literally 000's of different combinations

What am I looking for the higher 'C' rating, mAH rating or both?

Both. The mah rating is the capacity of the of the pack i.e. how much power they hold. The CC rating is the rate at which the power is extracted from the pack, the higher the better.

C rating tells you how much current you can safely pull from the pack without damaging it. 10c means 10 times it's capacity, so if it is a 2700mAh pack, you can safely pull 27000mA = 27 Amps. 20c means 54 Amps.

www.giantcod.co.uk are cheap, and UK based. www.hobbyking.com are based in Hong Kong and are cheaper, but take longer and you can get stung by customs (or more to the point by parcelforce, who charge £13 for collecting a couple of quid for HMRC)

I've got a 2500mAh 11.1V 3S Overlander in my Corsair (plane), but I just ordered a pair of Turnigy 2200mAh 20C (max 30C burst for 10 sec) 11.1v 3s from eBay for £22.99 + delivery - can't beat that sort of value!

Hmm, all I'd say is be careful when charging them. Lipos are notorious for going boom, and the fire is unbelievably fierce. My personal preference would be to pay a little extra and get the added comfort they have come from a reputable source. However, you still need to take care yourself and make sure you are charging them at the correct ampage, and maybe put them in a charging sack.

Agree with what Wayne said, personally I always balance charge.
It may take a little longer but after having one half of a saddle pack expand I'd rather be safe than sorry.

A very extreme example but gives an idea of what they can do

It was quoted as about $45, got charged VAT but no import duty, but parcelforce took more than HMRC (reamed by another bit of the Government)

Thanks chaps - but am fully aware of the procedures for charging LiPo's. I also have a Turnigy Accucel 6 computerised balance charger to ensure the packs are kept in peak condition.

Turnigy batteries are very well regarded - I didn't just opt for the cheapest packs on fleabay! smile

Whatever you buy, buy a lipo bag as well.

Battery in, seal it up and then charge.

They create their own oxygen when they burn (if i read it correctly) and go off with one hell of a bang.
Bags are about a tenner, well worth it

I use an old casserole dish - that was free smile
