Um… if it's any good, how will you know? You won't be able to see it.

Oh really? That sounds brilliant. Would be quite interesting to see what lurks in the local duck pond, there might be treasure down there. Would be great if it came with working torpedoes too, for engagements with other r/c boats.

HMS Astute could do with some R/C.

Used to be a company called Dumas that made a few kits, including a Russian Akula. May want to google the name...

...the last few rc subs that I bought were this variety:

http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/uss-chicago-...

They go for about $30 US and normally last 1 summer pool season before something kills either the transmitter or receiver or one of the motors goes tango uniform.

Great fun for playing around in the pool, though.

There are also those real afficianados out there that do custom jobs that include everything from working pressure launched torpedos and missiles to actual balast and blow tanks. Worth a rummage around the net for the videos alone (usually created with "The Hunt for Red October" music in the background)

I've seen a few videos of these on YouTube. Pretty cool, but you do need clear water and a snag free lake - you wouldn't want to dive in a murky, slimy turd pool to retrieve it!

There's probably clubs or something that meet at swimming pools, or maybe the local duck pond. Keep us to date with how you get on!
