Discussion
A few plastic models here

Some of the larger Tamiya car models have some nice engines in them...

Something slightly different, a 1/33 scale Merlin in paper!

What you really want is one of these, although the budget has stretched a little.

I guess you have seen Pierre Scerri's work?

Hi just asking if anyone could point me in the right direction for scale models of engines. Would prefer to work with plastic but metal would be fine. Really looking for things such as Cosworth DFV, Rolls Royce Merlin, Large Ship Engines etc.The more complicated the better.
Try a Google search for kits by Pocher. They are long out of production and the car kits command high prices but they are all 1/8 scale and the detail is amazing - as is the time needed to build.................e.g. spoked wheels are built up spoke by spoke.Of interest to you would be either the Volvo truck diesel engine or the Bugatti 50T straight-8 5 litre unit. These are engine-only kits and not badly priced if you can locate one. Most assembly is by screws but there is some gluing. All engine internals are present, including piston rings and valves etc. Instructions are very Italian, i.e. can be challenging and there is always at least one bit that will not quite fit. But, for 1/8 scale engines they take some beating....................and as the major components are screwed together, you can take 'em apart again, if you want.
Good luck.
