Even beautifully built, like this one I just found, it still looks like something off 'The Flintstones'.

It's even more ugly than I remembered.

Are we all going to bid on that one?
Hope not as there's only 3.

Only problem with this La 5 is, to me it doesn't seem readily available.

e-models don't have it, and there's not many on ebay.
Type "Revell Lavochkin" into Google, there are loads available.

It is important that people check that the online stores have enough in stock, quite often they will only have 3-4 of the more obscure stuff.

How about something modern? 1:72 Revell Eurofighter Typhoon Twin Seater

£11:99, Hannants have 20+ in stock

Modelzone also sell it in a Starter Set for £15:99 http://www.modelzone.co.uk/eurofighter-starter-set...

How do you do a poll on here? Candidates so far seem to be:

Lavochkin:

Walrus:

Horten:

P-51B:

Flitzer:

[/quote]

Tempest:

Add others as appropriate!

We need to start making decisions. I think that the Eurofighter is too complex for this build. I have one (yes, I know I have too many unbuilt kits) and it is quite a complicated model - with lots of external stores. weapons etc.

I think we should drop one or the other Jerry concepts and replace.

ah yes.

Why the hell did it not get picked up when I searched for it on emodels, as they do have it biggrin

I'd be up for one of the mustangs as I've not got one of them yet.

You can build it with the hatches closed and no guns for a 'smoother' look.

A rather nice video of it here, I like the music. smile

dr_gn, to start a poll, just start a new topic and choose 'poll' as the type.

biggrin

Or I could "imagine" what the Walrus designer might create if he were tasked with designing a single-engine monoplane fighter.

Bomberguy's stuff on Youtube is very well put together with very appropriate musical tracks. Have a look at some of his other entries - they are really quite good.

OK, how about this:

Lavochkin:

Walrus:

Horten:

P-51B:

Flitzer:
Tempest:

Draken:

BTW, I don't seem to have the option to start a new thread as a "Poll", just "discussion" or "wiki".

Ok I've gone with any Revell kit, or at least it should be one from the suggested by Dr_Gn

Based on kit availability and I think it would be a bit boring to have 10 or so of the same even with alternate
schemes from the box.

True, but FWIW there are a lot of people on PH who ask advice on how to start modelling, or who start models, but seem to not finish them. At least that's how I see it. My thinking is that if everyone built the same kit, then maybe those with less experience could ask any questions if they get stuck, and the more experienced modellers could outline any techniques they were using if another member liked whatever effect was being discussed. That was why I also thought this idea, rather than a pure modelling skill competition would be of more use, to more people.

I suppose if the group builds caught on, then they could vary in content and purpose?

Just my thoughts!

ETA we really ought to have a vote, becasue if the majority of contributors are beginners, its no good seecting the most difficult kit!

I seem to be able to start polls, so if dr_gn's suggestions are being taken as the option, I'm willing to start a poll unless Dieselgriff or Zaxxon would prefer to.

Thanks RF. Shall we give it untill 20:30, then you could start the poll based on the last lot of nominations - unless anyone wants to add anything before then?

How long do we give it? until midnight? or the entire weekend? Just that I'm off to town tomorrow...hehe

Right, there she blows;

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Zaxxon, Dieselgriff: apologies if toes have been stepped on.

I seem to be able to edit the poll to add upto 3 more options (and delete existing one would assume).
