Are we going to have a completed builds thread? It would be nice to have all the Tempests in one place, it may even spur on those who's builds have stalled.

Good idea.

Limit of 2 pictures per person?

I like the idea of that

how about standardising the pictures?

Maybe one from the front starboard quarter and one from the port rear, looking down.

You'd get the attitude on its wheels given the wheels are down and a look at the overall camouflage effect on the wings and fuselage

Comparisons and advice follow ups would be quite simple then

In flight models could follow suit as with the flying bomb one and the lit up one (A darkened room shot too for that one huh?)

(OK, just a thought)

I think a picture and a link to the individual build thread would suffice. Personally speaking, my yellow bits look better than my green bits so defining shots may not fit in with the individuals model. Just a thought.

Yeah, I was thinking a topside view and an underside view would do. Any angle. Trouble with a link to the build log is that it's sometimes a hassle to find the right page for the completed model pics. If they're all in one place it's much easier to look at the whole group together.

Looks like I'm not going to be finished by the deadline as I don't currently have the time to work on it.

Lots of uni work, and other commitments.

Damn shame too as it's shaping up to look like one of my better models.

How about a pic of the state of play, at end of day? Whatever stage you have reached.

Naturally the time available is diferent for everyone and should be accounted for I'd say. (Even as a retired old fogey I find I have less available modelling time than I had expected)

I know that technically as an "outside the GB" observer I don't have any say but I bet there are lots of us drawing stimuli from these models who would like to use the time taken to gauge their own progress.

I'm nowhere near finished either - we were a bit quiet after Christmas but over the last couple of weeks it's gone nuts (which is a good thing).

I have replaced the Quattro radiator and redecorated the downstairs hall though. Can I post pics of that instead?

That's no excuse: I fixed and repainted the hall skirting boards! (nearly).

I'm another failure! Managed to get as far as opening the box, but having opened a wargame store in the last few months things have gone a bit hectic! Spent a lot of time building and painting Warhammer and Warmachine though!

Maybe next Group Build, hopefully we will have something land based, got to get these aero modellers outside their comfort zone!

Comfort zone?

Did someground hugger say summat about getting aeromodellers out of a comfort zone?

Might be worth a try.

I havent been in one of them for ages smile

My philosophy works like this

If you are a modeller, that's what you are

I have regularly built models of anything that takes my fancy

Scratch built from plasticard and in need of refurbishment after thirty years in a box, 'til tonight

Mine is near finished but won't beat the deadline. My other hobby (musical theatre) is dominating at the moment (Jesus Chris Superstar hits the boards tomorrow night so all weekend and most of last week was taken up with final rehearsals). I may get it finished later on this week as I usually take a couple of days off work during show week).

Seeing that this is Pistonheads - how about an auto theme next time? I've not made a Tamiya 1/24th scale kit for years. I'm quite looking forward to getting a BL/Rover/Austin kit and weathering it. It'll probably just need rust wink

It might be worth just selecting a single marque, i.e. Porsche and allowing any kit to be used.

What do people think?

I've got a 1/18 Jaguar XJ220 and an AC Cobra that I wouldn't mind building.

hmmm I've got a 1:24 Honda S2000 that I started about 10 years ago, but scrapped the body and floor pan. Been looking at getting some spares for that and building it, but turned out it was cheaper to buy a new kit.

Wouldn't mind trying a nice bit of flocking as it happens....
