Take some snaps of the key stages: box, contents, half built, all done. Then post them up smile

Yey, Avante's rock. I remember getting the tamiya catalogue when i was little and dreaming about having an avante one day. Back then I had the Vanquish which seemed to share a bit of the avante technology but with cheaper parts.

Shame I still couldnt justify that much on an r/c car but it would be lovelyt o have one. But then I think i'd need two One to build and one to just look at in the box. I think its the packaging that sets the Tamiya models/kits above all others. Its worked for me. Still build models and will only buy tamiya 23 years on!

Your right. Tamiya are the best at the surface impressions - box art, themes, body design, overall packaging, easy instructions, even the names. This is why they are so popular with first timers. None of this is relevant to racers of course. But an element of these details help. This is where the Optima Mid was superior to the early CAT's for example.

I agree with that. I loved my 'Optima Mid Custom Special' back in the day..it was far superior to my best mates Avante..which broke all the time and, even with rich parents, he blew all his cash on spares...but I still lwanted the Avante, and it is always more rewarding to buy and build a Tamiya with their superb packaging and materials..do the Schumacher kits still come with rubber bands!?

I will also be buying another Avante for a rainy day, or spares..whichevr comes first!

have finally picked up the Avante 2011 today!..some 2 months after it came in to the local model shop..was abroad with work for a while unexpectedly..felt like a 14 year old going back into the shop..it hadn't changed a bit..love the presentation and the quality is obvious..now want some poor weather to give me the excuse I need to build it!!..

from this months RC mag, I reckon the Egress Re-Re will be along shortly!..
better start saving...camping in Cornwall rather than the Med this summer I reckon!

I'd buy a few sets of the hard black plastic items which are prone to cracking while you can. May as well get a stock of other general spares in case they stop production. Stuff like bodyshells, wheels, you name it. I have enough spares to build up two brand new optimas.
