The old ones are always the best!

Which leads me onto "Typhoon Stripes" were they a field mod and rough or factory applied and percfect - which may explain why Beaumont could have his done from scratch.

Most would have been "field applied" - to a greater or lesser degree of perfectness.

Any aircraft coming off production lines or coming out of Manitenance Units (MUs) at the appropriate time would have had "professionally" appl;ied stripes which would have been straighter.

I'd like to see the completed finish on the 'worst example' picture. The lines look straight enough to me, an if you scaled them down 72 times they'd look *much* better than if you attempted them by hand on a model. Assuming the markings were touched in afterwards, and consider it looks like it *may* be a scrap or decoy airframe (no canopy, no aerial) , and that example actually starts to look pretty good in reality.
