All this talk on Gagarin and Vostok has inspired me to look at some old models in my stash.

In particular, I have an old East German VEB/Plasticard Vostok spacecraft kit (1/25) that needs building. I built one of these about 30 years ago and fancy having another go with the unbuilt one in the collection.

Does anyone (MattG?) have any guidelines on painting and detailing the Vostok as I am sure the instructions with the kit will be inaccurate.

I've been eying up the Airfix 1/144 Vostok rocket - mind you I need to finish the Saturn V first!

This is a beauty, the hexagonal pattern on the capsule is particularly good

Impressive model although I think that the haexagonal pattern is too exagerated. Prior to re-entry scorching, it is quite faint.

There are some shape issues with the Airfix R7 rocket but I can live with that.
