The DS3 is a nice little car, just couldn't get on with the interiors shiny bits and cheap looking centre console.

Handles well too and the 150 THP engine is great for day to day driving, hell, even the 90HP derv I had for a bit was just fine for getting about.

My good lady has a DS3 1.6 with the City Pack. I hate driving it in all honesty. Yes it's thrashy and it handles better than my old Cooper S, but the steering is so lifeless, the seats have no sides so you're literally wedging yourself in with anymore more than tootling-along driving and the suspension I find quite hard (!).

Fuel consumption is pretty good, and yes inside it's totally different to much more on the market at present.
A good little car if that's all you want from it - but start to push it and for me, it's just too....disconnected!

Every now and again I have a strange compulsion to own one of these. I think they are great.

Madness does that to a person.

To be honest I had too much input in the Golf, this time " my good lady" needed the input. Can you believe she typed in economical cars into google and the DS3 appeared. I had admired it at NEC so this time she has chosen. I will leave the spirited driving to the Griff.

Soft suspension? Depends on what you're comparing it with! I'd call it firm . . . & my previous car was an Alfa 147! It does, thankfully, lack the Alfa's unremittimg harshness & it feels better damped.

As for the steering, I've driven better, but I've also driven mush worse. The Fiat Punto Evo is about as bad as it gets - they even have a "city" button to change the steering from rubbery, lifeless & lacking in feel to even more rubbery, lifeless & lacking in feel. At least the DS3 does have some feel, albeit somewhat artificial; I can live with it.

My DS3 sport with 211bhp is the best car i've ever owned.

I went for grey with a red roof

Good points, great handling, great engine, immense fuel economy, eye catching, alcantara seats with side bolsters etc
Bad points, steering a little vague, attracts attention from "barrys" in their fiestas wanting to "own" you (lol)

Top Gear car of the year and Seb Loeb's office is one wink

I'm going to be owning a Citroen soon....
As CAR said of it (in the top 15 of it's Frankfurt motors): Best looking car there (! - a bit strong but I personally agree)

I guess 211hp was a chip remap or upgrade ?
Quite easy as the engine is good for it in standard trim. Did you find it straight forward?

Yes, custom remap from Flash Remapping, Iridium plugs from a JCW and a custom cold air induction with Pipercross filter. Torque is now 235lb/ft with amazing throttle response, and pops and bangs on overrun from the standard exhaust.

All in, less than £500 for an extra 50bhp.

Just a side, the THP150 engine is listed as 150bhp, is actually 115kw which is 156bhp, and actually puts out 160bhp or more in standard trim!

I am seriously looking at buying a second hand one of these ( '12 plate ). A couple of questions if I may:

1) Is the ride much more compliant than a C2 Vts? I'm hoping so!
2) Is there much in the way of lag?

Yes, I will be taking a test drive but not much point if the answer to number one is no and number 2 is yes lol..
thanks very much.

Exactly the same colour scheme as mine. Lovely choice.

I sold a Golf R to buy mine. DS3 Dsport.

It's more enjoyable to drive than the Golf R. You can actually engage with it and throw it around corners rather than just steamroll through them.

Just ordered a new DS3 DStyle Nav for the missus. Diesel 100 bluesomethingorother powered which seemed to be as quick as her Megane coupe 1.2 turbo on the test drive (but with far better low down response), reportedly economical and surprisingly quiet inside. This was the first time that she has driven a diesel and she preferred it to their petrol turbo in terms of power delivery. She is not a racing driver though.

Well specced as standard and we added some sort of a pack on which gave half a dozen things including upgraded alloys, stereo and it phones home if you try to kill yourself in it. As you can see this was well thought through, but we needed the car very quickly. Should be a surprise to see what actually turns up over the next couple of days.

Colours - hmmm yes indeed. She wanted white with PINK roof and mirrors. She GOT white and BLACK roof and mirrors and I will get a wrap done for her that can be removed when we sell it. Might have to wait for the paint to cure first though.

She's happy enough, so on that basis, I would say it was a very well considered purchase wink

Sane or not, that looks cool today. I don't know much about Citroen but from memory that looks like an SM? Way ahead of its time in the early 70s in performance, comfort and handling, but I guess a bit tricky to keep up today.

Just off to pick hers up now. Fingers crossed. I wonder what we ordered smile
