I believe they're the best... lol.

Did have one at the beginning of the year but they're a nightmare to keep on the road, especially as a first car. I shall definitely try and get hold of a totally standard Raider one day smile

I had a Raider as a Company Car once. Brakes were the best standard stoppers I have ever experienced (sometimes just too good for the lightweight car!!).

The best? sure that's an objective opinion....Pug fanboys/owners etc wont agree.

But for sure it is illegal levels of fun, maybe the most fun you can have in a hot hatch/car IMHO.

I owned a total of 4

1 good one and 3 more to use for parts to keep it going.

Great fun mine was running somewhere approaching 200bhp with hybrid turbo, various GT tuning parts, big brakes etc etc

I'd really quite like a spotless standard raider one day.

I think ime on my 20 th ? now !

Bought my First one I'n 91 , was a superb 85 Le Car Turbo in White , reluctantly sold to fund a Stingray , how i wish i had kept it .
Bought my first GT Turbo I'n 93 via Loot ( remember that ? ) from a lad I'n Walthamstow . It was an 86 I'n Pearl White C400 GME , where are you now ? She had light front end damage and broken seats ( early ones were very weak ) . I repaired her, fitted a Phase 2 F Bumper and Had Lots of great drives, by far the best drive so far has to be July 93, when we set off for San Tropez , via the Somme and The Route De Napoleon , complete with 2 bikes lashed to a Halfrauds Cycle carrier .
As long as I live, I will Never Ever forget that Route De Napeon... Had the drive of my life .

I Have had 4 this year alone. Now got 2 , a Standard looking 90 I'n Glasier White with 2 Grands worth of K Tec Engine , now sign written to advertise my co and an 88 , Orig Black , now Blue with a Hot BB Tuning Engine, big Brakes, Roll Cage etc etc . This one Is For Sale .
Personally I would avoid the Over Rated Raider, No Lovely Side Decalls, a Blue that is Impossible to match, Dodgy Raider stickers on the screens, a Better Phillips Radio Cassette And that's it !!

Clean looking car, but just doesnt do it for me . No Lovely GT Turbo Side Decalls , Colour coded alloys , Still say they are Over Priced / Over rated . I well remember stopping at A Renault dealers I'n Enfield where they had 2 new ones, must have been early 1990 . Where has the time gone !

But give me Pearl White , Silver or Black Any day . Silver is Probably the Rarest Colour now, it wasn't common when they were new , they look really good I'n Silver . A complete waster I had the misfortune to know bought 2 new Flash Red ones I'n early 89, they were impossible to start in that Summers heat . One was smashed up and written off .

I have allways wanted a Pearl White Turbo 2, any one had/ have one ? , but prices are now way too high and out of my reach now. I think I would possibly be disappointed with one now , after spending so much cash, ,particularly straight line performance .
As for as low as 6k ( but ideally 12 K ) I can be behind the wheel of something that even now 20 odd years after it's launch and 12 odd years out of production , to 100 mph is Still a Very Quick car, has stunning looks , Sounds Amazing , has a good spares and technical back up, is Very exclusive ( only 1,900 odd made and probably Only 1,200 or less left ) .

Can you guess what car I am referring to ?

Saved this Glazier White 90 Model from a Nth London Garden last summer. She was due to be broken. Has a K Tec Engine and lots of other Goodies, inc a Half Safety Devices Cage . Should be back on the Rd in the next few weeks. Cant wait.

I had one back in the day when they were THE thing to have - 1990, still is in my personal top three cars I have owned. I caned it everywhere changed the oil every 2000 miles and it never let me down. Went on a driving holiday to the Isle Of Man and drove it for hours at a time flat out against a BMW 635 CSI and a new Astra GTE. It outclassed them both. It's also one of those cars that feel much quicker than they are, bit like a Fiat X1/9. Car I owned before that was a Gordini Turbo, wish I had kept that !

This was mine last year...

Taken from the new owner's pictures as it was slightly lower (too damn low!) when I had it. Following its progress on the R5 forum. I love the internet sometimes.

Mine as was back in the day. 215hp. Even though I now have a 400hp peugeot 106 I still miss my old r5 sometimes. Wish I had the space to store and restore one now. frown

I've always wanted one and finally bought one as a weekend toy last month, it's so much fun!
I've been surprised with the amount of strangers that have come over and complemented the car, I didn't think other people liked them as much as me.
