Hi Folks,
I've been lurking around the site for the last couple of years and have only just signed up, A great place for help so here goes.
Wife if looking for a full size MPV, new Alhambra is out of our price range. but I have spotter a couple of 50k mls Renault Grand Espace 2.0 DCI up for sale in my budget.
We will be getting rid of the 06 Passat diesel and the espace would be a replacement to this.
Any advice on what to look for or should I stay clear of this. All advice is gratefully received. we do about 20k mls per year in the wifes car so it has to last to about 110k miles. There is one for sale in bridgend motors in Scotland that I am interested in, anyone have any experience of these guys?
thanks again for the help.

I had a o7/57 dynamic normal one. It was the 150bhp dci model. Never got more than 40mpg no mater how careful I drove it. Mine was owned buy me from new and I did 40000 miles in the 2 and a bit years that I had it. I drove a couple of older espaces as hire cars, I got more mpg and they felt better put together, maybe mine was a Friday afternoon assembled car, it felt like it would struggle to get over 100000miles without a lot of pennies being thrown at it. It took me ages to sell it, when I did I saw it in a car park looking very sorry for its self the swirl free metallic black paint that had many coats of wax applied was wrecked, looked like it had been through a car was that had sand in the water, the inside was like a farm yard. It looked very sad.

I'd be looking at an merc r class, ford galaxy, Kia thingy, voyager, bus pass, buying two cars, selling one of the kids etc rather than buying another espace.

GTIdriver, cheers for that. Always good to get the advice from an owner. I think the galaxy may indeed be a safer bet as I cant afford a reasonable mileage R class and the market for children is decidedly narrow since savile past away.....too early for the jokes...non? the MPV is what the wife wants, I did try and tell her that a wrx was just the same as a focus, unfortunately she's not that dim to believe me so a 7 seat it is. Quiet life and all that.

Also look at the Honda six seater, the Mazda 7seater and a Eclass estate with the two rear facing seats. In all the time I had my espace not once did it have seven bums on seats. It was a complete waste of money, I wish the local ford dealer was a bit better at giving out test drives,I'd have bought an s max. If i was buying again I'd look at an E class estate 7 seater with the 3ltr v6 in sport spec.

how big are the kids? A grand scenic might do and will be easier to sell on.

Sorry was away for a couple of days there. Grand scenic is smaller than what we / the wife is looking for TBH she's looking for the larger MPV for some reason.
Talii1 good call but not 7 seats, I have the similar navara in top spec to the warrior and it is a great vehicle. Abused daily done 95k in it and still going strong.
cheers for all the suggestions guys.

The Grandis IS a 7 seater ....
"The Mitsubishi Grandis is a seven seat MPV built by Mitsubishi Motors to replace its Chariot/Space Wagon/Nimbus line"
If you are just taking small kids locally then rear face seaters are okay.Long journeys complete waste of time.
