The RS Clio is a different story though - it is a great drive, looks distinctive (ugly to some, but definitely different) and is less "Chavy" than a Fiesta ST. If you can pick one up for £15k, I would say go for it. It is a jack of all trades - cruise on the motorway and don't worry about traffic jams as the auto makes it comfortable, or get it on a B road and thrash the hell out of it. I love my one despite all the purists saying it is a lemon.
You've neatly summed up why I'm interested tbh. My Mrs needs an auto, so it seems ideal...

I didn't try anything apart from the RS - the GT looks nice but is just a normal supermini so I can't imagine it will be great to drive. I have driven a new Fiesta and if I was going for a standard car, I would take that over a Clio.

I was dubious about the looks at the first showing of it but I think it is a really good looking car now, I currently have DSG and only auto/dual clutch interests me now so the Fiesta is out!

The fuel economy is a bit worrying though, the Evo long term review also said they can't get the MPG over 31 no matter how they drive it!

I'm looking at maybe chopping my car in and adding more money to the equation and getting one of these. As somebody said there seem to be some around already for as low as £15.5k.

I'm interested in having a test of the GT version as well, It's alot slower but has the RS suspension still and all the toys with it, and much cheaper running costs!

Anybody tried one yet?
Andrew at Renault Watford runs one and I get better MPG in my RS. I'm not sure how he drives though, so that could mean it's better, or he drives with a lead foot.

I love my RS. Does everything well in the real world. I get around 26-28MPG in town/stop start, 34MPG with mixed driving and 38+ with a long run without cruise (cruise seems to be consistently 3MPG less than I can get like for like driving). It's better than my old RS133 and every bit as fun.

I also like how it's a little more exclusive than the Fiesta ST which I drove and it didn't appeal in the same way. Today I parked it on the grass out the front whilst I was working on the drive and I had people actually stopping and looking at it and asking questions - everyone loved it - which did surprise me.

I am also looking to get a bigger car than my abarth 595 and I am very interested in the Clio RS.
What kind of discounts are available at the moment I have checked broadspeed but drivethedeal does not have a renault section at all.
Would be great if anyone can offer any advice.

At a bad dealership 0% but at a good one 10%+ afaik though you could (if you can find one) get a 265 Megane for something close to the cost of a new Clio as they'll be eager to get rid.

Depends where you're based but you could try posting over on the offical renaultsport.co.uk forum as there are dealers that will pick up on there sometimes.

Unless you desperately want something brand new, you can now pick up a tiny miles RS Clio for £15-16k - much better deal than new.

I bought new just because the car had only just been launched when I was buying - I knew it would depreciate (it's a Renault!) but I expect to keep it for 4 years so do not need to worry as the depreciation curve should level out and I knew what it would cost and accept that.
