Hi there, I am looking at buying a 2003 Clio V6 (LHD as I live overseas).

Due to the climate over here, the dashboard has gone sticky/ tacky in the extreme heat. Clio V6’s are rarer than hen’s teeth, so I wondered if other Clio’s could be used for a straight dashboard swap? There are plenty of standard Clio's in the scrap yard including 192’s etc. Does it matter what age etc? The French cars from memory use fairly generic fixings/sizes.

Is it a large complicated job, or fairly straight forward if at all possible?

Same goes for the seats too, as they are a little shabby.

Any knowledge/ pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Craig,

Were there not two versions of this, one with the round headlights and one with angular ones?

Do you know what year would be best, I don't like the dated one, so ideally the newer one would be better if it works? There are more of the newer ones to choose from in the scrap yard too. Is it a fairly simple job? Most French cars have the simple clip on method, don't know if this is the same for the dash?

Any ideas about the seats? Can these be direct replacements too?

Appreciate your help.

I would think (should be a simple search to find out) that the Ph2 Clio V6 (with the pointy lights) comes in about 2004/5.

It's a generally better regarded car with more power, and values reflect this.

Thanks Johnny,

This isn't the question though.

The question is, I am looking at buying a Phase 1 V6. The dashboard is knackered due to the heat over here, so I would like to replace it with a new one (2nd hand). It was suggested that I could use a Clio 172's dash. were there not two versions of this though, which one (maybe both) would be a simple fit for the Phase 1 V6?

Sorry, I misread your post.

My 1st port of call would be Cliosport.

Try on V6clio.net

the dash on the ph1 vee looks identical to 172 or any period clio for that matter (even my sons 1.2 base model- must have been a bit annoying when paying +20K for one of these new!), Speedo and rev counter may be different but you can just swap the instruments.

Ph1 V6 dash is the same as a ph1 172 (round headlights). Be aware that lower spec clios from the same era do not have a passenger airbag and therefore have a recess where the passenger airbag would be on the higher spec models - this may mean they would not fit without removing the ph1 v6's passenger airbag. Dashes are interchangeable and not V6 specific. Same goes with seats. Ph1 V6 seats are the same as those in a ph1 172.

It is possible (and it has been done before - cliosport for the relevant thread) to fit a ph2 v6/ph2 172/182 dash into a ph1 v6 or ph1 172 for that matter. The mounting points are the same. The lower dash is pretty fiddly to extract and you may need to figure out whether the v6's transmission tunnel cover will get in the way - don't think it does.

You could go and fit a dash out of the 182, isn't 100% straight forward but it is possible.

Same as a PH1 172. Speak to Renparts, they can and will ship abroad.
