Hi I'm after a cheap run around for the other half. The pug 307's look good value.
What should I be looking out for.
THanks

If its 1.6 diesel you're looking for, service history is the main priority. Make sure the oil has been changed at the required times and that the correct grade has been used. If not, they eat turbos \ egr valves. Cheap oil degrades and blocks the turbo feed pipes leading to another turbo, it can be a constant battle. Otherwise they are comfy and practical. I liked ours but sold it when the turbo popped for the second time.

Cheers was looking for either the 1.6 or 2.0. Did you have any electrical problems or suspension troubles
Its no point spending much on a car for the other half as she just treats it as mobile skip

The only other issue was that it went through tail light bulbs fairly quickly, probably every 3 months. The suspension and brakes seemed pretty good though.

More for other eejits coming across this later, and thinking of a 307
  1. Blower working on all settings 1,2,3&4 otherwise a £300 fix
  2. abs sensors start causing hassle
  3. indicator stalk make sure working correctly, early ones are weak
  4. carpet comes adrift in footwell - so make sure wires not chaffed.
  5. alternator pulley wheels sheer off on 2.0 diesels (twice for me over about 120k miles)
  6. coil packs can go on the petrols (check rough running when cold)
  7. suspension needs regular refreshing of bushes, drop links & wishbones.
If you can work on it a bit yourself I wouldn't discount these as they are very cheap to buy, sold mine (spares repair to mate) as a precaution as It was needing a clutch after 145k+ And more ABS pump work, that I didn't have time to diagnose and fix at garage rates.

Also got a petrol 1.6 16v 307 and the family have added circa 80k to it, so while not a great fan of 307's, nearly 200k and almost 10 years of them show they are not all bad if you get a reasonably good one.
