Hi all,

Decided to take the plunge and buy my childhood classic a 205 1.9 GTi had a blast driving it home however it has not been relegated to the garage as it wont idle or run for more than 5 seconds.

Done the the following:

Checked for spark-all fine
Undone fuel rail and confirmed pump was working
Squirted brake cleaner into the intake and it runs!

so looked at the follwing:

Replaced air mass meeter
checked for air leaks usual places etc
played with idle screw

No joy frown

I am really struggling to find a specialist in the Dartford Kent area has anyone got any ideas?

On another note as useful as 205gtidrivers forum is why cant I join? Seems bloody rediculous.....

Just had a look on the forum and it says new user registrations were enabled on 8th November, so you should be able to register. As far as I'm aware (from when I joined years ago) it's just a case of following the validation process before you can post openly on the forum.

Sounds like the SAD=supplementy air divice valve which is playing up ,its a common problem.

My 1.6 was like this when I first got it.

Regular use is about the only thing that keeps it running well. If it is left for a week or so, as it often is, it will return. Mine always goes away once the car is warm so I would guess that it's just for the first ten minutes or so.

What name have you registered under on 205gtidrivers forum?
We've got loads of new applicants.
I can validate your registration wink

Is the AFM round the right way?
Is the oil filler fixing bolt (into plenum) in place?
