Hi.

Was looking the other day and noticed that these are becoming pretty affordable, and I have liked them since they were a current model in the 80's.

I have a hankering for one and would like to get a collective view on how mental I am smile

A quick scan of the internets suggests that chassis/suspension turret rust is an issue along with general cosmetic condition of the plastic body. Aftermarket wheels are desirable due to the cost of OEM size tyres.

Anything Else I should look for or should I just buy a 996?

Make sure the bodywork, interior, glass (particularly the headlights) are undamaged. Most bespoke only to the gta and ££mega, if you can find them.

Mechanicals ain't so bad, many shared items across the renault range and it's a very easy car to work on.

Electrics were the pain with mine, door releases fail all the time, speedo rarely works and forget anything the trip computer tries to tell you.

Check the chassis carefully too. The plastic bodywork can easily hide a frame covered in rot.

Loved mine, had it for 6 years, a car that turns heads beyond belief...but always something needing done.

Be careful...i'd go for the 996 tbh.
