Scenic III - Hazard light issue

At despair now - my wife's 2010 Scenic for the past year or so has had this issue with the hazards turning on when starting the car.
No issue, just turn them off.

Lately it's got worse, hazards just come on randomly when the car is locked, usually as soon as you lock the car. Only way to stop them flashing is to start the car. Even then you can be pressing
the button for 20 minutes.

Weekend, the battery was drained. Google throws up lots of things that I think aren't quite the issue.

I've seen suggestions it could be the switch, UCH, etc but not convinced, I'm now fairly confident it's the alarm module that's gone. I'm biting the bullet and sending it off to a Renault specialist to fix shortly but I'd be interested to know if anyone here had similar and also, does anyone know where the alarm module for a gen 3 megane/scenic/grand scenic would live?

The alarm unit is under the scuttle panel on the NS. Often found to be impersonating a submarine. The drains in the scuttle block up, as in several other models, causing a lot of damage to alarms, wiper motors and if it gets really bad, floods the interior, carpets, under felt etc etc

Well that would make sense. Last year the car flooded inside due to blocked drain holes which I later cleared after removing the wiper motors.

You`ll need to remove the NS wiper motor to access the alarm unit.

You may be able to get one direct from Cobra but more likely dealer only. No coding required, but don`t go for a used one, it wont work
There was a recall on some Scenic III alarms, unit replaced free of charge. From memory early `Stop and Start` models were covered. You may even get lucky and find that it`s covered, if not been done previously.

This one isnt a stop start but is an April 2010 model

I've seen a few second hand modules on eBay from Meganes of the same age but won't buy if they won't work.

I'll call Renault and see if its covered under this recall. If not, how much for a new one I guess!

Was just wondering if you managed to get the hazard light problem fixed. I have a 2010 Grand Scenic and am having the same issue. I've been told need to take it to Renault Dealer as not coming up as a fault on the diagnostic tests.

I did in the end and finding the answer on the Internet was impossible until I posted here.

Was indeed the alarm unit. Located behind the near side wiper motor. Didn't stop remote central locking working etc but simply removed it and the problem went away.

They're about 50 quid from Renault for a new one. Or half that from eBay. The part number is on the module.

Had so many issues, it was part ex'd eventually.

Hi there I've a 2010 Renault scenic and I've recently turn my car on and the hazard lights come on. I thought for a while I was hitting them on but knew I couldn't have as the switch is up on the dash I see some people suggest a fault I'm wondering about this as I've another problem with a vibration in the car it's getting quite bad and it's not the engine mountains, just yesterday was told flywheel??? Wonder is this causing the fault wyc

I've got the same problem with hazard lights coming on when engine starts

Removed the nearside wiper and found the module referred to, but it appears to be the siren and does not look like the alarm modules advertised on ebay.

Is it likely that its the siren module that's faulty and the alarm module is situated somewhere else and doesn't need finding for this problem

The siren module was wet but not sat in water and the connections looked dry

I have the identical issue to you....Can you confirm was it the Siren module that is right behind the N/S wiper motor which has a propeller type shape to it or was it the alarm module which is I'm assuming a little deeper in the engine bay somewhere?

Any help welcome as Car is currently off road

It turned out to be a module behind the passenger side wiper, under the bonnet.
Meant the alarm didn’t work but remote locking still did. Not tricky to do really.

Whilst there, poke a pipe down the water channel. This blocks. I had loads of water behind the dash which I heard swashing about after a downpour. Think this also causes the issue with the alarm module.

I have the same issue with my wifes Scenic, Hazard Lights come on when you get in the car and cannot be turned off untill the engine is started, Did you find the issue?
FIXED - New Alarm Siren from Renault (£65.59) fitted it myself all sorted now, Apprantly they are prone to fail due to water ingress, suggest you purchase new as I once purchased a secondhand drivers door lock which was also faulty always buy new if possible
