Help with Megane not detecting key card

My 08 Megane Grand Scenic wont start at the moment-I put the key card in but the dashboard shows "card not detected"
The key unlocks the car fine,but wont start it.
Both the main key & spare have this problem
Ive seen a few videos on YT that seem to involve dissecting the card, but as both are duff, does that imply its a problem with the reader in the dash?
Any suggestions for a fix?I dont mind getting a new key but hopefully via an auto locksmith rather than be bum raped by Renault main dealers!
