Does anybody know if/how to reset an Electro Mechanical Odometer to Zero ?

I have to change my KMPH Speedo (at present only the face is changed to fool the MOT man) to a MPH one.
I have sourced the correct V6 type in MPH but I would like to reset that to either zero or to the correct KM/MPH. I will naturally inform DVLA of this act. It would be nice to zero it. The unit is standard PSA/Citroen/Pug 1997 issue

From your pictures it looks as though the cable drives the drum from one end incrementing the final digit & the grey gears progessively increment subsequent digits. I would guess (& it's only a guess!) that unclipping the two shafts should allow you to realign the numbers to zero - unless there's some sort of anti-tamper mechanism.

Failing that, there's always the old electric drill trick!

All done. There is a key wheel (thin) next to the first wheel, flip the shaft up, line up the key wheel then the other numbers with the key wheel and you have a corrected speedo.

Had to be one of those jobs that's either amazingly simple or almost impossible!

Yep smile, one where you wonder why you wondered how.
