I know the feeling. I kerbed mine after owning it less than 24 hours! I was pissed!
Feel safe in the knowledge that you're not the only clumsy retard out there, we can celebrate our ineptness together TBF, I normally never kerb wheels but the front axle is wider than the rear, hence the need for mental recalibration !
I managed to touch up my satin Tibor with Halfrauds... satin black spray at £5.99 which happens to be a perfect colour match and got the wheel back to 99% of it's original new condition the day before the "incident", ie the day I collected it...

I corrected mine with some leftover "Renault Black" touch up paint I had from my Clio, seems pretty close also. TBF, I normally never kerb wheels but the front axle is wider than the rear, hence the need for mental recalibration !

I managed to kerb the O/S front after 1200 miles though, so my car was positively old in comparison to you lot hahaha!
Glad I'm not the only one to suffer the pain of failure.

Nice to see Nick is using it properly, I want to do some track tuition in mine at some point then do a few sessions (hopefully some quieter evening sessions)
What tyre pressures do you all run?
On road tyres whatever you use on the road if not more to support the side walls, use what it says on the door sticker do a few laps then check where you're at with hot/warm tyres if you must. What tyre pressures do you all run?
Though unless you're chasing seconds just stick them at what it says on the door sticker and leave it. Certainly don't go letting air out on road tyres.

So what's the conclusion on the brakes and tyres Nick? Sounds like you are having a great time.
Hi Jon. So far so good. No fade at Spa in sessions of 8 laps, most of them at 9/10ths or more. BUT, predictably, high wear - the front pads (PFC Z) will do Bedford Tuesday but maybe not much more track work. No deposits at the front though, which is great and confirm that the set up is fine for my use and the tyres.Deposit at the rear though as the small pads on solid discs have proportionally got a lot of heat dissipation what with the grippy tyres and the stiff suspension.
In other words, the rear pads have overheated despite ESP off. They may survive Bedford.
Front tyres OK with only slight outer shoulder damage as predicted. They take too long to heat up but they are very stable when there. 1.9 bars cold stabilising at 2.6. I understand the 120 version of the NS2Rs heat up quicker and might actually be a better choice unless you do very long sessions, which I won't do because of (eventual) brakes limitations.
Not sure you've seen the other pics http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Are you there on Tuesday at Bedford ?

Huge thanks for this Nick, your experience makes me think this is such an ideal track car. Particularly what you say about the brakes. 8 laps of spa is enough to make all but the most developed track cars melt, that you can in a factory standard car these days is real progress Deposit at the rear though as the small pads on solid discs have proportionally got a lot of heat dissipation what with the grippy tyres and the stiff suspension.

Hiya. For clarity, the brakes are not quite std : I use Motul RBF600 fluid, Performance Friction Z rated front pads on Nankang NS2R tyres. The zero flaps in front of the wheels have also been removed for a little bit more cooling. The OE pads and/or fluid wouldn't have survived 8 laps. But caliper, lines, discs are untouched. The std PS2 tyres wouldn't look too good either. The cost of upgrading was actually minimal, the tyres for instance were practically the same as what I sold the originals for.Can anyone tell me if all versions of the 275 measure corner g, lap times, display temps?
