Enjoy! I can't comment for the 275 as I only have a 250 which I recently purchased from a good friend. That's a cracking car, especially with the cup chasis and the lux pack. At 23, i was expecting my insurance to be expensive compared to other stuff. Suprisingly, it was actually cheaper than my Jag XF and my Xbow.

You'll have great fun I'm sure. RS monitor is a must for the reason mentioned above. Everyone has different preferences regarding throttle response, and it allows you to decide what you want. Without the RS monitor, you're stuck with the one choice which isn't the best of the options IMO

Bit of a post-script to my previous contributions.

I did 9k miles in 5 months and adored the car. Window rattles/squeaks resolved themselves, went like stink, no problems bar a) PDI didnt pick up the transit tyre pressures, and b) PDI obviously swapped an alloy with another car and didnt code it to the car, resulting in a tyre pressure warning from day 1, which was resolved by another dealer.

That aside, it was fantastic. Far quicker than my 250 was and I eventually got my head around the interface to all the gadgets.

Unfortunately changing circumstances, including a family bereavement, meant I needed something with bigger load carrying capacity to help with the associated house clearance, so I took on my wife's old Pug 3008 1.6 diesel (talk about a contrast!) and tried to PX the Meg against a new Ateca for her.

Oddly enough, the book price of the Meg was sky high but the retail value was based on the discounts we all took advantage of. Not many underwriters wanted to pay more than £16k, so I explored other options including the "webuyany..." type companies.

Their systems were using book price (not discounted RRP) to calculate the values and I was getting offers either around, or often above, what I paid or it. Sadly, every company cancelled their appointment once they spotted their websites' error and did their own research on Autotrader etc.

That is except Evan Halshaw, who, after a whole world of messing around over the payment side of things, paid my £21k for the car I paid £19.1k for!

So basically I got paid £2k for the privilege if driving one of the finest hot hatches ever. Result! shame most other cars will now feel like a come-down in many respects. Roll on 2017 and the new RS...

Very nice! I know that another PH'er has sold his to WBAC and got more (or the same) as he paid for it. Shows how good the deals were!

Hi all

In the market for a new car and after having a few years in boring diesel smokers fancy something a little more interesting.
Owned various hot hatches and always liked the look of the Megane.
Have a budget up to £20k, other options would be golf r, golf gti, focus st....

If a Megane I would be looking for a 275 with cup chassis, r-link + preferably recaro's (really don't like the standard interior).
im quite tempted by this:

http://www.autosussex.co.uk/used-cars/renault-mega...

Ticks most of the boxes 275, Recaro's, I'm assuming cup chassis as red calipers, less than a year old, low mileage etc..
It's been for sale for a few weeks now, any thoughts on spec, price?

If anybody is looking to sell similar spec car, please get in touch.

Cheers

That looks a great buy actually - especially given r-link/nav/recaros. It also does have Cup pack.

Does look a nice car Tom. Mine will be coming up for sale soon. It's a 2016 car with the spec you are after but also with Ohlins and Akrropovic. It also has a n expensive front end protection film. I'll be wanting a bit more than your budget but thought I'd let you know. June 2016 car 6.5k. You can't message through email on here at the moment as my email address is wrong in my profile. Let me know if you are interested.

Just realized there are pics back in this thread. Never did make it on track due to exorbitant insurance so use this instead which has 5 free trackdays included in the policy.

Thanks for the reply, I would be interesting depending on how close to my budget you are talking, it would have to be close. You should be able to e-mail me through my profile on here.
Cheers

Megane owners....

I was reading the C43 thread and people mentioned juddering on full lock.

My Megane does this. Literally sounds like this:

Do yours do this? Mines Cup chassis. I figured it would just be the lack of negative camber (wheels basically skipping) or just how the diff is.

Thanks

But yes, lots of cars do it to some greater or lesser degree

What's your tread like on the front tyres? Mine did it on my 19's when they were low

Plenty of tread left. Done it when the tyres were new and on the old set. I guess its normal then. Just irritating and mainly noticeable when its damp.

It does get worse with older or low tyres, still does it on new ones having changed mine recently just not as bad.
I find the road surface accentuates it quite a bit, there's a multistory I park in where the tarmac makes it sound terrible.

Leaving the work carpark at night I used to get asked whether my car was broken. I had to explain it was the diff, because hothatch smile

On an aside, Is anybody interested in some track wheels for their Mk3 Megane? I've got some 350Z wheels which fit perfectly, but I've since sold the car, so don't need them anymore?

My Trophy does this but mainly when the tyres are cold. I have Ohlins and I think the angle/camber is quite extreme on full lock, it's like the tyres sort of skid forward but it never affects the cr when you're driving as you never have it on full lock. It's normal.

Ha! Nah, the Megane is so worth living with its minor flaws.
