Hi all,
Just purchased a Peugeot d4b 1400kg with its original 1500cc petrol engine, 4 speed gear box and am looking into to putting a modern day engine in the van for reliability and better fuel consumption. Could anyone point me in the right direction of perhaps what engine would likely to fit with lilttle or no mod and/or know of any companies that could assist on a conversion?

My first question would be why?? You have a lovely rare old classic why ruin it,leave it original.
Your D4B will have the same engine as a Peugeot 403.Not exactly a performance engine but bulletproof and reliable (in their day).Its such a simple little engine so may be worth rebuilding and keeping it?
If you want to upgrade the obvious choice would be 1600cc Peugeot 404 or 1800cc and 2000cc Peugeot 504 engines.These of course are still old models so you may end up transferring more problems.
