Peugeot 106 - Less than 3000 miles since new!

Good Evening All,

This is a slightly more unusual post however I'm curious to get some thoughts and ideas from other petrolheads. I have provisionally been asked to sell my Grandma's car on her behalf as she will no longer be driving. It's a rather unexciting little a Peugeot 106 Zest 2.

Now in itself that is nothing out of the ordinary however here's the catch, she's had the car from new and its done less than 3000 miles since then, having been stored in a garage its entire life (need to charge the battery to confirm exact mileage) however for all intensive purposes it is a brand new car! Now being an enthusiastic petrolhead I have always been of the belief that cars were made to be driven and I feel that this should also be the case with this car. That being said I don't want it to end up with a random learner 17 year old who will not appreciate its condition and quite frankly destroy it, or someone just looking for a run around who will run it into the ground (as a couple of examples).

Now I have no idea where I should be advertising it? or how much I should really be advertising it for due to its condition? I've even wondered whether I should be contacting an auction house or somewhere like that and see what they say? (Other ideas I've had would be Peugeot, museums, collectors)

I could be going mad as its only a mass produced 106 and nothing special however I feel as though I have an obligation to make sure it goes to a good home given its condition, and also want to get the right price for my Grandma...

Anyone got any thoughts or ideas? :confused1:

I think Ebay will be your friend with this one as it will find its own market...i can see somebody buying this around the £1500 mark? its simply too good to be under a grand.

Time warp car but sadly uninteresting model, therefore as someone else said, ebay it and you're likely to see a grand or so.

It's all been said,yes it's a one off but a not very interesting one,what a shame.
Before you start advertising why not put the word around the family? surely someone would like "grandma's pride and joy"?
If it stayed in the family I'm sure grandma would be more than happy.

Love a 106! If you stick it on ebay - should find its market.

I would guess ~£1k as well

Lol tell me about it! Saying that I certainly wouldn't be selling it if it was and would have already driven the wheels off it.

Thanks for all the replies guys, all very helpful! Amazingly there's no one in the family in need or can justify it hence considering options. It's likely it will get placed on eBay on auction for some lucky buyer...

See if 4 star classics want to buy it,they love low mileage stuff.

From your profile they're not far from you in GU35 postcode.

If they do buy it,expect their mark up to be huge.

Any news?

There's a few low miles ones on AT (including a 15k miles car) for less than £1k but this is definitely 'special'.

Hi Dom,

In a turn of events we've decided to list the car on ebay and see what interest turns up. It went live last night and will last for 10 days, I'd like to think if anyone bids they're in for a bargain. The auction is starting at 1k with no reserve as we feel its worth at least that, that being said we'll have to wait and see whether anyone agrees with us or not!

Luckily the 16 year old tyres will be cheap to replace. Good result at £1800.

Cheers there was part of me that thought it may touch 2k however its still a good result, still waiting to hear from the buyer but fingers crossed.

I believe they have all been replaced not too long ago on an age basis, so it should be good to go!

That's a lovely looking car. Glad you got more than £1k for it. Hopefully the sale completes uneventfully.
