Hi guys
I have seemingly bought a Clio 172 cup off my brother for a decent price.
Truth be told I really don't need another car just always fancied one and knew this was a good one and not thrashed.
The car has
52k on the clock
Fsh from Renault or proper specialist
2 previous owners
clean paint work
Very good condition interior be it bloody smelly
It has
Suspension-
-Gas gha coilovers
-White line rear arb
-Power flex wishbones
-Mp solid top mounts
-Mp strut brace
-Cedes edos 15 x 6.5j et30 wheels
-Toyo t1r 195 45 15
-Titanium stud kit
-Eibach front camber bolts
-Power flex dog bone mount
ENGINE -
- ktr induction kit
- rs tuner and map
- 2.5" cat back exhaust
Made 169.8bhp which is very good as most don't make 160bhp!

Exterior just has subtle enhancements like de wiper rear and black badges
Interior is standard but vgc with no thumb pad wear on steering wheel vgc cup seats

Have the standard cup suspension too.

Now I have my e36 M3 acs being treated to a underside restoration so not in use,
Lexus gs300 sport being not used sitting around
Volvo S60 2.5t as a family hack
VW transporter for work
So now a clio as well, do I keep it as it is and just rag it until my e36 is ready again or do I make it standard again and keep it as getting rare in good condition with low mileage or Think sod it and buy a cage and a bucket seat and track Or hill climb it.

I'm pretty sure these 172 cups with low mileage and good condition will become classics quite soon and worth something like my e36 has done or am I chatting poo?

I'm thinking of using it as a bit of a run around fun toy so I want it for road use really
I'm thinking it's a bit hard riding for a road car and I'm thinking maybe a bit boy racer.
What do you guys recommend for a nice weekend road car in terms of modification and also keeping value in the car?

Il get so pictures up asap

IIRC a lof of people over on cliosport.net run -1.5 all round camber wise on the MK2, other settings to suit, else they use a specialist like Mark Fish to do a proper setup. Id have the coilovers wound up as high as they will go for handling. CS used to be a good resource 10 years back although I dont visit the forum so much now

As for future classics, I cant see it happening. I think the 182 trophy if in mint condition with a functional set of Sachs would be the most desirable and will rise in value but not much like say a V6 would. 172 and 182 cars I cant see being a classic as such, I rekon they will end up being on par with a Rallye or something where people look back with fondness but wouldnt pay a lot for. They are very low in price at the moment. If yours was standard and well maintained it might make it desirable but it sounds like its been barried. I would personally return it to standard. What colour is it? Silver Cups are quite rare. Also lets not forget that Cups were pretty barren inside and that lack of ABS would be more of a nuisance than anything else.

I would just enjoy it personally.
