DS3 Wipers, BCM!? - scrap car?

This seems like lunacy to me but I'd be interested to hear what others might say.
Miss21Jnr has had a Citroen DS3 (2013) for 5? ish years and its been fine. Week for so ago the wipers packed up so did the obvious, fuse, relay check. All good.
She went into a local garage and they suggested the wiper motor so she picked up a replacement of ebay which I fitted. Still no go. They looked again and suggested it was the body control module (new one on me!)
She's now spoken to a local auto electric place and they said its a main dealer job and probably cost more than the car is worth.
Sounds a bit insane to me. Google says very little so any advice welcome.

If this is the Citroën based off the same car as the Peugeot 307, its more likely to be the fuse box. They're currently on back order though from France, so she may have to wait a while.
Other fun faults resulting from the fusebox dying include lighting faults (one head lamp doesn't work, then next time you start the car the fault has moved to the other side) and spurious EML or ABS lights that don't leave a fault code.
Either way, I'd be talking to an auto electrical specialist not PSA group dealers.
